your car

Well if u like the car can afford the insurance and know how to stay safe it is fine. My first car at 16 was a notch back with a built motor. I will say though they do pretty much suck in the winter. I never wrecked it but boy did i rack up the points and insurance was just nuts. But if you do get it just try not to be to stupid in it.

TM, what you say is very admirable, and true in most cases, but not all. You don't know the OP, I drove fast cars when I was a teenager and never did anything stupid, unless you call the occasional burnout stupid.

Basically what I'm saying is, that most of the time a GT is way too much car for a teenager, but it depends on the person.

I don't know enough about the OP to judge whether or not I think he could handle a GT or not, and I don't think you do either.

But to answer the OP's question, you could drive a stang in the winter, but at your age, I would look for a sporty car that is more suitable for the snow.

One option is to look for a 4 cylinder fox body and put a turbo on it. It will still be fast but insurance will be much cheaper.

I would take a turbo'd fox over an SRT4.

i'm 17 (18 in less than two weeks) and i got a mustang gt...wouldn't have gotten a mustang if i had to get a v6. sorry but i definitely would have gotten somethin else if all i could have gotten was a v6 mustang. i sold the jeep and got the gt...if i had to get a sixer i would have kept the jeep instead

of course your gonna have a heavy foot sometimes but just don't be a retard and do somethin you know is stupid and dangerous and you'll be fine. just take it easy lol.

my buddy has a 454 camaro (that will dust my gt) and is 19 and hasn't ever had any problems. he did flip his truck though lol.

if you rule out cars then get you a jeep for that snow

Im 19 live in columbus ohio and own a GT and drove it every day this past winter. Its really not that big of a deal unless youre a bad driver. I never got stuck in the snow and never spun out and besides this car is not that fast!

the hardest part is keeping it straight while accelerating.

I dont know what you are talking about, a sub 14 second car is fast. 75-80 percent of all passenger cars are not that fast.

I got my GT when I was 17 and I never made any stupid decisions... then again, why would I if I can't even bring myself to drive the car anymore unless I absolutly have to.

i thought crickets insurance went down?

anyway, these guys are trying to warn u, but if u respect the car, u won't crash it. I've owned V8's since i was 15, some of which were modded an scary as fuck to drive through snow.

i did it no problems, and the only wreck i had was because a women in a durango decided that 60mph was a proper speed to go over railroad tracks to make a red light i was turning through.

keep ur foot off the gas and PAY ATTENTION and u'll be good as gold man.

good luck with whatever u buy, and feel free to stick around even if it's a chevy

my son is 17 with a mid 13 second fox body. I race with him all the time on the streets, to 60mph. I make it like its a big deal to do it, seems to make him afraid to go past those speeds. Worked well so far.

im 18 i got my gt when i was 17 and have done nothing stupid in it and im not exactly a perfect kid. Yeah the occasional burnout but nothing bad. I dont have a second car but when it snows i get rides from my brother or take his truck. I love the car and i dont think its too much power. Now my other brother at with the 05 vette, thats another story
