i have two buddys that want to run me. one of them just bought the new pontiac G8 thats bone stock and the other one drives a 2002 z28 auto with long tubes and full exhaust. what yall think? should i go for it?

With respect to the G8, you shouldn't have any problems. Assuming your buddy's car is a G8 GT (and not the base model), Pontiac advertises 5.3 seconds to 60 and 13.8 in the 1/4 mile (Edmunds' best run was 14.1), so a stock Mustang GT would give it a good run. With your mods, you should chew it up and spit it out.

Well, it often comes down to the driver, but you have the quicker car.

You got em both, as long as you can drive.

Since they're both autos you should have em from a roll, that is assuming your car is a stick.

i don't see how the g8 would beat a bolt on ls1 unless it was a bad driver. i think you got the g8...it will be closer with the ls1.

Sounds like a fun match, hope you get'em!! Notice you got hooker Lts, supercomps??? Since I've got close to same basic mods as you can you tell me what you gained from the Hookers because I am trying to findem at a decent price (like the collector to midpipe setup)

LS1's are no joke... it's gonna be a drivers race.... his mod list makes him just about even with the LS1, especially if it came with factory 3.4X? can't remember the last number

97s and below are lt1s. My buddies ta went 12.7 with lid and full exhaust so i don't think thats your race. G8 is cake. I wouldn't shift the car unless you want to grenade your transmission. Leave it in drive.

ah i thought 98's were the other body style...but i looked on google and 98's are the same body style as the 99 and up so of course its ls1...lt1's were in the older body style 97 and older...my bad

ls1 is going to be a damn good race, and you better be able to drive damn good. you should take the g8 easily, but damn those ls1 cars are pretty fast, even stock.

Well don't manually downshift it. High RPM downshifts kill the trans.

Yeah, his car has the potential for low low 13s, so he should be ahead of the LS1. Not by much though.
