Needed for safe 500rwhpWhat has to be done to the motor and what all should be done to safely run 500 rwhp? What is the most you could get out of the stock motor and keep it reliable as a DD?

450-465whp is where i would keep it on stock bottom end. to "safely" run 500whp you need to beef up the internals, what kind of fuel system do you have?

Talk to the guys @ JDM.
JDM Engineering they sell saleen packages pushing automatics and manuals 500+ safely and with 0 problems to this day. talk to the guys Jim Sr, Jr or Jim III. very well recognized guys in the mustang business and find them in a lot of MM&FF magazines. |

Power adder of your choice (s/c'er, turbo, nitrous)
Forged shortblock or forged rotating assembly. And depending on which power adder you choose, you may have to add fuel system upgrades.

for a DD i would keep it around 450 rwhp while keeping the stock internals. if it were not a DD you could push the hp and if something broke you would have something else to get you to work and get groceries and stuff while you fix the stang. but for a DD i would keep it safe and conservative.

Like most will tell you... it's all in the tune. You will find various opinions on this topic to say the least. I've been running that much on mine for a little while now with no problems. I'll definately post up when mine lets go, but hopefully it will live for a while.

I'm running 470 with my whipple. safe conservative tune. get a whipple!
the newer generation 2 whipple blowers with the lightweight twin screw blade design is putting it at 500hp, safely! kinda wish I waited for a gen 2 whipple, rather than getting a gen 1. the whipple is great for a DD |
