Also on 4:10's, don't do it if you are going forced induction, you are just shooting yourself in the foot because you get in and out of the boost too fast.

Anyone looking to buy a set of FRPP 4:10's PM me, I'll sell them for cheap.
I'm going back to 3:55's now that I'm blown.

Gimme a few and put up pics of the shaft.
You are 100% correct, a Street car with boost 3.55 Max if you want a track / street monster 3.73 max both Manual and Auto. If you want a Total Track Monster with Boost 4.10, but you will need Slicks

BTW, I was looking at the CF Driveshaft I think it is better than the aluminum ones for sale, what is the cost difference? Also I think the CF will work better with automatics somthing about harminics, which was the reason Ford went with the Very Heavy Two peice setup. Nice pics let us know how you like it.

4.10 gears

Hey, L33T? Why you selling those 4.10s?

By the way, I've had my 05GT (manual) for 1 year and I'm looking to SLOWLY add some performance mods. I teach in NC so $ is NOT falling outta my hiney (AND I'm a family man so you know...).

I WAS going to go the axle back route for the 1st mod, but I think I've settled on the 4.10s. I WAS going to do the 3.73's but I read in a previous forum here at MM that the difference in rpms and gas mileage b/w the 2 are minimal. And let's face it... if you're going to the trouble of swapping gears, it may as well be one that is WELL noticeable.

By the way, my mechanic brother-in-law will be doing the swap... I'm assuming that I need the install kit too?

Turning off traction control,
Jeff

I'm selling them because I've got a supercharger and I can't stay in the sweet spots long enough because of the 4:10's.

I want my 3.55's back!

Yeah, the 4.10's installed correctly should not make anymore noise than the stock 3.55's. If you are planning on installing a supercharger down the road, though, you may want to stick to the 3.55's to make sure you get hooked up. The 3.55's w/a supercharger is the right match.

I've read more than one test on blown stangs, even the shelby's, running 4:10's and even 4:30's (The Shelby 500's come with 3:31's), that say nothing but good things about them when it comes to pulling. It definitely makes the car harder to hook up, but that's what suspension mods and sticky tires are for.

Gears are a torque multiplier, thats it. To much gear, you'll be quick meaning your 60' times will be low but your trap speed will lower and you could run out of gear.
Not enough gear will do just the oppisite. Slow out of the hole and have High 60' times but your trap speeds could be high and you may not use all your gear. Ever seen car run a 12 sec. 1/4 with a trap speed of 120+? Not enough gear to get out of the hole!!

Things you should consider when choosing gears, Power to weight ratio Tire size and what your using the car for.

I picked 3.90, my car will weighs bout' 4100-200 lbs, make 700whp (820hp at the flywheel) and about 660wtq. It should be a nice set up for 10.00 1/4 mile @ 140mph. 1/8 mile, I'd run a 4.56 and if I wanted to roll race on the street, I'd go with a 3.55.

I race 4 wheel drives also. I run 4.88's in a 4600 lbs, Big Block powered F150. It spins the tires at 50-60mph while pushing mud with the bumper and shooting mud 30' in the air. It's a lot of fun when I'm not breakin' shit!

Gear selection makes a huge difference depending on what you want to do.

Tdog your arguement makes about no sense. Even with a large amount of bolt ons... a stock gt with just gears will eat you up. for much less money to.

Not true. We have 3.55's stock. If you are going to get FI then you don't need gears. If you are going to just get bolt ons then gears maybe a little more important, only if your getting 4.10's. I would take the mustang with bolt ons against your stock gt with gears anyday. I see you posting in this part of the forum all the time. Do you even own an 05-07 mustang? Your dads doesn't count.

No I work with my dad on his and get plenty of time behind the wheel. Thats pretty gay to try and single someone out cause I don't own one. I drove my dad's when it had ud, tune, x-pipe, thottle body and a cold air intake... with that in the car alone vs his car with 4:10's it would just get smashed.

I'd agree... unless you've REALLY done your homework like I did before I bought one. But even homework can't give you the rush of mashin' the gas on your own stang!

Look I drive my dads car at least twice a week. It's close to full bolt on minus mufflers and headers. It also has gears. On my own and with my dad I researched this car nose to the tail end. Just cause I drive a v6 doesn't mean I don't have the right mind to suggest anything. The topic at hand is 4:10's. I've driven car's with 3:73's and 4:10's and I've driven both with stock gear ratio's. With that being said I think my opinion will hold a little water. have you driven a car with 4:10's... if not you'll never understand why there worth it.
