If i'm pulling 2.1's with 20in street tires, than how are you getting that bad with dr's?

I have ask the question myself to racers, i guess i suck man. remember though i can cut 2.0s and 2.1s on my nitto street tires as well just takeing off from idle, actually on a 60 degree day, i got a 1.97 on street tires going off idle. but i need to slip the clutch better on those 3000+ launchs. im putting over 300plbs of tq down at that rpm.
I can tell you this much, i might not spend the money on another set of 275 17 mickeys, i think the sidewall is to short, i need some 16 inch rims and a taller mickey for next year. |

I was thinking about going with the 275/40/17 nitto dr's. I figured the shorter tire would make up for my 3.55's.

dont know what to tell you. Im trying more sidewall for more grip next year. i'll work on my foot work for the rest of this year. my clutch also has a lot of miles and raceing on it maybe thats not in the best shape either. consider a taller tire. I like the mickeys, they hook until they dont though, at 3000 i dead hook and bog to much, that cost tenths right there, and at higher rpms i spin to much, cant find the right spot. I know one thing, i need to be in higher rpms from the jump to run better times. this motor is all top end.

juco, i know i said it in your thread, but don't get the nitto's since they won't be your street tire. get some real tires for the track. some et streets, hoosiers, or m&h drag tires. just getting a dr for your 17's is going to be a waste especially the nitto's.

not only stickies but 300+ size wise... I have 275's and they are way too small and they look funny on the car too... I am only worried that if I get it to hook I am going to twist something and need more mods... I should be around 550 rwhp when and if I ever get my car back from the shop

Just got with 15's man. WAY more out there for a 15" wheel. That's what I'll end up doing later next season.

yeah the only reason i went with the 16"er's is because i got them free from my sister when i gave her my stock 18's. she has a V6. if i had to buy some wheels for stickies i would've just saved up for the 15's

Do you have and adjustable UCA? If so try putting a little negative pinion mayber 2 turns or so. Your pinion angle is huge in affecting your short times. Just be careful though these cars are really sensitive though and if you put too much you'll get a terrible driveline noise cuz the geometry is all out of whack. I took like 2 turns out of mine and it dropped me from a 1.6 to a 1.8 so literally like 4 degrees and a 2 10ths drop in 60 foot.

Doesn't Hoosier make some QTP's in the size we need? I loved my QTP's on my Lightning - if they can handle that much torque, I think they may be great for the Stang.

unless your making more than 450 or so hp, a 28 inch tall tire is gonna be way to tall for anthing under a 4.10 gear ratio, id suggest sticking with the 26 inch tire and maybe going to a smaller wheel to get the more sidewall, but even then, the drag radials arent going to be flexing in the sidewall area.

i say bs, the nittos are all in the way you use them. ive cut 1.71 60 foot times on them on a 17 inch tire, and ran 12.01@111 on 305 rwhp in my current car. they can hook well, but youve got to run them at around 15 psi aand burn them good, probably 10 seconds longer than you think you need to. plus they last longer as a street tire. i was launching at 6000 with nittos and dead hooking

Since you called me a bad driver i'll throw some shit back your way if you were launching at 6000rpms.... dead hooking and only cutting a 1.71 60 something was wrong.

if the nitto's were going to be his street tires then absolutely, but they aren't. they are going to be strictly for the track so what's the point. he's putting them on his stocker 17's. why not get some real tires and not even have to think about it. with only a couple trips to the track a month you're not going to wear them out that fast. they'd last at least a couple seasons. now if he were getting some for his 20's then of course then i would say get the nitto's (other than nitto's i think are the only one's that make 20" dr's right now).
