Auxiliary Port In '06 Center Console

Have any of you guys added the auxiliary that comes standard in the '07+ in an '06? How hard is it? How much did it run you?

Funny you should mention that, I just got a cord today from Radio Shack (shileded 6ft audio cable) Part no. 42-2387A. Have not tried it yet but when I do I'll let you know.

Yeah, '07's and '08's have an aux line-in port inside the center console next to the power port. Don't know if it's only on Shaker 500 and up stereos though.

It's basically just a headphone jack, I use mine daily, but it doesn't charge the mp3 player and all the controls are through the mp3 player. I don't just using the cable for now, I know with a full kit you can have better control, but it just isn't worth it for the time being.

I did a while ago... I bought one of those PIE adapters off of ebay and installed it Works amazing.... Never had any problems...

i believe Ford dealers sell a auxiliary input kit that goes in the glove box..called TripTunes or something, think it goes for like 50 bucks.

It's not. I have the bare bones radio and it has it. Handy little feature!

Sorry for the late update but the 6ft shielded cord from Radio Shack works like a champ. I did notice that the volume suffers a bit but all in all she seemed to work fine.

i've got mine in with just a short cord ( 2ft I believe) and it works like a charm

i just plug in my iphone (after shaving the end a bit with scissors, stupid recessed headphone port), drop the convertible top, and roll.

Jlease, if you are having volume troubles, did you try actually putting the volume on your iPod up all the way? because at first I accidently only had my volume set at what I listen to with earbuds in, then turned it up all the way and it worked much better

I used a Harmon Kardon Drive+Play. It charges my ipod & has little sound loss for about $80 . My wife bought me a TomTom Go720 which will also play my Ipod but doesn't charge it.

in my old car I used my griffin itrip but the aux input is 1000x better

I had a shop install a cable that attaches to the back of the head unit and runs to my center console. You just have to hit the auxiliary button on the headunit to switch to the ipod. I just keep my ipod plugged in and in the center console. Thats the only place "I use the ipod. When Im driving I just take it out of the console and set it in my lap. You have to use the actual ipod to change sounds and what not, but its no big deal at all. Also, you have to have the volume turned up all the way on your ipod. You may also have to play with the bass and treble settings on the ipod as well.
