Cam install

K. I'm going to be installing the Stage II NSR Comp Cams next weekend. Can't this weekend cuz I'll be at Ozzfest 2008 in DFW....

I have the Cams on hand, cam phaser bolts are on the way, the valve spring compressor & timing chain wedge should be on the way also. What else should I get before I tackle this beast. I'll also be buying a fresh quart of oil to lubricate everything before installation.
Thanks

Brain Fart: On the cam boxes one has LH & the other has RH. Is the LH the passenger side if your staring at the motor from the front or is the LH the driver side when sitting in the car. vice versa for the RH

I hate that they cant just write passengar or driver side, its so hard to remember which is which....but i think...dont quote me on it....its from sitting in the car or looking at the car from the back...hence the driver side is left and the passengar side is right...once again im not 100% can someone else verify? Anyway good luck with the install and post up some vids when its all said and done!

Answer

the left side is the driver side in the US

Answer

the left side is on the left when sitting in the car faceing forwards!

the right and left sides of an automobile or the engine are determined faceing forward from rear of object as in cross mounted engine stand in back of engine and face towards the front of engine the left bank will be on the front bumper side while the right bank will be on the cowl side of auto

I'll rent out the tools to anyone who needs them. You can just send me what I paid in shipping to send them to you. That is all. Much cheaper than $238

Rev Limit

with the new cams going in next weekend hopefully. Should I leave the rev limit alone or have doug @ bamachips raise it. If so, what should I ask him to raise it to.

If the cams didn't come with new cover gaskets make sure you get those as well.

the stock cam cover gaskets are rubber and are reusable. Only thing I have to watch out for is taking them off slowly making sure I don't tear it. Other than that I'm good

I think Doug might have to modify the cam timing for the phasers.

dyno

hey Doug from Bamachips just emailed me what HP i should expect with the cam tune he said he dynoed one last week and gained 25-32 rwhp across the entire RPM range thats pretty good. i already have to tune just have to get the nsr cams and install them. i read a thread about the engine that blew up and ask Doug if he had heard anything about that . He said he didn't and that he doesn't mess with the cam timing so his tune is safe and the people are satisfied with the tune with no problems.

Are you still renting these out? What's the easiest way to get a hold of you?
Thanks.
