What's a good price for a Shelby GT?

I was talking to a local guy today and he we were talking about the mark ups on vehicles. What do you guys think would be the lowest someone could get a 2008 Shelby GT for? The one he is looking at has a few miles on it where the sales manager drove it a little. Anyway, what price should I tell him would be a good deal?

Sticker is $35,900.

its a gt with about 3000 in parts on it including the rims, hood scoop, handling package, power package, short throw and x pipe. So depending on what options the car has as far as stereo, comfort package so forth, figure what a comparible gt would cost add 3000 and then he has to ask himself how much is the shelby plate on the dash worth to him, with cars like that, thats all that matters. How much does he want it.

To me, brand new those cars were always about 36000 dollar cars, that was figureing that with my gt the sticker was 29,800, add the 3,000 in mods and shebly's name was worth another 3 to me. so for a slightly used model, considering i have seen people paying 42,000 for them. 35,000 wouldnt be bad. 33,000 would be a great deal depending on exactly how much mileage is on it. but the salesman should be punished for driveing it, fucking asshole. i hope he cant get more then 25,000 for it.

Then again ford is jacking the prices on all the stangs a little to much for my taste right now anyway.

I got a friend who bought a 08 in March new in the showroom for $34,000. Of course it was a small town dealership and they had also had it for a while. He also has his car dealer license as well so that could of helped to.

i priced one out with a friend today...dealership was holding strong at around 43k lol. They wanted 607 a month with 10,000 down. Rather absurd

Do you really want a blue Shelby? I don't. Mine listed for $ 42,000 in '07. I bought it for $9500 less at the end of March
'08. I think you can wait and steal one. Look online and I would like to bet you still find new '07s for sale.

I don't think it's ford. I think it is the individual dealers. I think this was discussed previously in another thread about dealer mark ups.

well yes and no. I know with the specialty stangs its dealer markups. I was reffering to just the price of a gt mustang. it maybe dealers and may just be ford. but i see way to many on the lots with very high prices on them and it hurts ford.

A freind of mine has a daughter just turning 16. she wants a stang so he was asking me if i thought it was too much car for her. i said no, get her a sixxer. then he was talking about how much they cost $37,000. I said you must have been looking at a bullit or something or a loaded GT with nav and vert and all that.

to many marked up cars that are nothing but a damn gt with options and people are starting to get the impression a mustang is damn near a 40,000 dollar ride. I told him a sixxer is low 20,000s and a gt you can get for 29,000. Ford needs to start paying me.

Ford needs to straighten that shit out its gonna hurt sales. Its parents buying their kids 6ers that has kept the stang alive and well for so many years.

The dealer is working up their "best" price and should be calling him back this morning. I'll let you know what he says.

I picked up my white 07 with $11,000 miles for $25,000 a couple weeks ago. The interior is pretty spartan, so it was a bare bones GT before the conversion. I have been very happy with it.

My new 07 GT with 34 miles on it was only $23,500 (bone stock, no added options). They invoiced for around 24k. a GT with options on it shouldn't be more than 26-30k. For a Shelby, I think anything under 36k is a reasonable/great deal.

Well, they called him back and told him they would really cut him a deal on it since it has 1500 miles on it but has never been titled. Apparently the GM was using it for his personal car.

They quoted $34,500........looks like they'll be keeping it.

shebly's name was worth another 3 to me
It's worth different amounts to different folk. Not worth a dime to me, but I am likely in the minority. Still, if Shelby means something special to you, then you'll feel OK with paying the extra for the badging.
