cam install?
does $250 sound like a good price for comp cam stage 2 thumprs with phaser limiters installed? This is the price i was just quoted from my "hook up" at the ford dealership. Also, when we get these installed along with the long tube headers, where should i set my rev limiter? would i be able to wait any longer to shift or am i retarded and this part has nothing to do with that kinda thing?

if im not mistaken the thumprs use stock springs so I don't think you would be able to shift much later unless you changed springs...someone correct me if I'm wrong

good to know. He told me it could end up only being $175, but to expect $275 at worst. It just depends on how long it takes.

If your friend is a ford tech then this should be a breeze for him. It took me 6hrs but thats cuz it was my very first time tearing into an engine.

My friend is the service manager. He gets his best tech to do side work for me and then i just pay him. Dealership never sees any money.

Now thats the only way to go other than doing the work yourself. cheaper labor cost with a creditable tech thats a good hook up.

I did. You will have to see where your power starts droping off on a dyno with those cams and then set your rpms like 200 or 300 rpms higher that way when you powershift and the rpms climb a little you dont bump that rev limiter. everytime you hit that limiter you can kiss 2/10s good bye at least, even if its shifting. |

with my comps i have the rev limiter set at 6800 and i shift at 6500........my cams are very simular to the "thumprs" so i would guess you can get away with it too (im still on stock springs too).........250 is an excellent price on a cam install, im a Ford tech myself and there is no damn way i would install them for that cheap if i was doing it on the side.
