the gt500 would be the best platform, but somehow i don't think you are talking about that... what do you plan on doing to this stang mod wise??

tr3650 5spd manual is what most choose, and as far as rear gear ratios i would choose 3.73's if you think you might stick a blower on it later, otherwise would go 4.10's or higher if sticking n/a, stock i beleive is 3.55.

personally i wouldn't take too many upgrades for ford and would spend the money on aftermarket parts for the other upgrades such as audio/visual/security and appearance.

another thing to keep in mind is that an 03-04 cobra could be netted for a silimar price which is much more modder friendly as far as the computer goes and is rated for more power. keep in mind that the 05+ gt's are a little more costly to mod due to having to tweak the computer for just about every change you make

the 07's don't come with 3:55 rear gears. you have to pay an extra $100 to get them. i wouldn't get them if you plan to upgrade the gears anyway. but really as for anything else that you would add as an option. it really doesn't matter as far as modding goes. a base model GT is not going to be any different than one that is ordered with every option. i just took delivery of my special ordered 07 and i got every single option except for wheel locks and the way way over priced shaker 1000. $1300 is way to much to pay for a couple 10" subs from the factory.

as for what i absolutely recommend for options is the "Premier Trim Accent Package" you get the dash, arm rests, and center console stitched. after i saw it i was extremely pleased. looks so much better than the base dash. that and the heated seats are pretty nice right about now when it is cold outside. i also wouldn't get the optional wheels if you are going to be getting aftermarket wheels. i got aftermarket wheels and the optional 18's, maybe i'll try to sell them to someone. the other option i am actually very happy with is the hood scoop. i was a little sceptical at first, but after actually seeing it there was no doubt. if only it were functional

i'm guessing you mean the stitched dash ext.

my guess is that you could probably get them through the dealer's parts dept, but i'm sure it would be pretty expensive

Bob, if you got heated seats then I assume you got the comfort group package. How is the rearview mirror with that? Does the autodim work well? I know its supposed to have a compass and all, but does it have a thermometer that ties in with it somehow?

Thats one feature of my last vehicle that I really miss. I guess you don't miss something until its gone. Even the small things...

I've got the heated seats and the new rear view mirror with mine...the mirror has a compass but not the thermometer...I have seen where the company that is supplying the mirrrs has the therm and compass in one of their mirror sets...just haven't seen it in a Mustang...yet!
