So a friend of mine got a tune from a guy local here. Based it off of the base X4 tune with some "tweaks". Me and buddy went for a spin in the car and I couldn't feel any difference in get up and go, but throttle response was quicker. So we tested it against my Camaro. Sure enough, I beat it dig/40 roll with ease. Guy made all kinds of excuses as to what went wrong etc. So, we wiped his X4 back to stock to enable the base SCT tune that comes on the device. Went and did the same runs, dig, I pulled him badly, (driver mod needed badly....lol.) but the 40 roll, I only put 1 car on him. So, same guy calls me out and has another Mustang with his tune. We go to our testing grounds and do 2 digs and a 20 roll, his call. I kicked the **** out of him just as easily as if it were a stock 5.0L on all runs. The best part is, my buddy running the SCT base tune kicked his ass as well, dig and roll. SMH........my buddy wasted $150 on that "tuner" who claimed to be so good and I told him to go with a Lund tune right off the bat. Best part of all is this guy didn't have **** to say after the ass kickings except that he's going to "revise the tune and pull more power" because of excessive wheelspin.
It's about the tune, or lack thereof of. The guy's tune didn't do squat for either of the Mustangs he tuned. It was sad really. I feel sorry for all the people who he took money from. That's why I don't get tunes from any Joe blow that a friend of a cousin heard about etc. I would only run a Lund tune if I had the 5.0L.
Umm because maybe mine makes a bit more power? I've yet to loose to any similarly modded 5.0L yet. And that's including the 15. I will say that there are 2 that were right there with me until I hit the higher speeds. LS3 are not slow, just hard to launch and heavy. I trap 115 in this abysmal air with just the mods in my sig on this tub.

On a side note, the guy who made the bunk tune fessed up that he did something wrong with the cam timing that kept them at stock values and that's why the tune felt/performed "stock". So he tweaked it and offered my buddy his money back. Takes a man to admit that you're wrong.
Well the revised tune didn't really feel much different than the base SCT tune, but much better than the first go round. Hopefully he'll get a Lund tune soon now that he got his money back and we will see how it goes then.
The LS3 is not slow, in a c6. In a camaro... mmmmmm. You need to find some actual coyotes to race. A bolt on coyote with similar mods as you, should be doing around 118. Any track times from your camaro?
Don't get me wrong, I like the C7s, impressive for sure. As far as exterior looks, I like the c6 better. I think chevy went to European with them. So didn't ford with the mustang. Just my opinion. I also like the power of making power NA (c6z vs c7z) . Once I do a set of heads and a cam, this car shouldn't have a problem making 600 whp and revving to 7000-7200. Just need to find an aggressive enough cam, that I can keep stock like drivability with.
When I went to the track and ran last, not one of the stock ones went quicker than 13.30's and all trapped 110 or slower. There was only one with full bolt-ons running good times for the air and he ran 12.20's @ 116-117.
Those times sound very accurate. That's very close to what mine ran stock. Some guys on these forums think something is wrong with your car if its not running 12.20's at 115 mph(stock of course). I got a BAMA V2 tune and recently ran a 12.69 @ 111. Was very happy with that.
I have a basic bolt on 4.6 and I've yet to be beat by a SS or a R/T on the street ..,..only tails my car has seen was some bolt on 5.0's ......matter of fact a guy in a 350z tried to test me on the interstate and waxed him on the top in from a 60 roll... And then a older guy in a 02 ws6 bird tried as well but when i walked him he gave me the thumbs up and stayed in the slow lane ......just saying don't knock all stangs ...you just haven't raced the right one yet .
Dude, you forget that I came from a 3V that ran a 12.9 @106, this car runs the same et with less mods and traps nearly 10 mph faster. 3V are quick yes, but they just don't have the top end power of the LS3 or Coyote unless a lot of work are done to them or power adder. That was always my advantage was being auto, gears and good tires. Haha
In the fall/winter, those times will improve dramatically for sure. It gets down to -800 d/a or better regularly at SAR. As long as the track prep is half decent.
