412hp - 390lb ft of torque


2011 Ford Mustang: Five-Point-Oh is now 412 hp

So, to sum up the Autoweek post:
-412hp/390tq @6500rpm
-tuned length headers
-all-aluminum block, cast iron sleeves
-4 blot mains

damn...i must own one.....i will own one. It sucks that the 3 valve reign will be over....back to 4 valves i guess

so they didn't do anything to the internals as far as rods and such? I wonder what a blower would do with that motor? I wonder if 500hp is still the max for safe power.

Highly doubtfull. I cant imagine ford would release a motor that is only 100 RWHP from its breaking point.

Thats making the assumption that the numbers posted are RWHP and not Flywheel HP..

I'm excited as the next, but I'd like that torque figure to be a bit higher... ohh well, should put us easily into 12's stock shouldnt it?

I will also add that according to Autoweek article above it will have:

It certainly sounds like they've made improvements to the designs, maybe ford decided on cost cutting for when the TT version comes into the GT500, that would mean that one of two things will happen: The GT500 will have sufficient internals to run the factory way, but not much more, or the GT will have GT500 internals... that'd be neet Either way it sounds like they beefed em up, but of course, we all know that everything in an engine is basically forged even the factory stuff, just a question of what material and how well etc etc

i bet it weighs like 3700lbs or more....so its like an S197 with 350hp

I hope it doesnt wiegh tooooo much more than the 10's. That is gonna be sweet. I may have to add a 3rd pony to the stable in 2012.

Tranny for one. 6spd, but then again it has an aluminum block so I don't know.

yeah.. I'm waitnig for a 50th Anniv 2013/2014.. all my cars will be paid off by then.. so nice time to go back into debt..

I think with the increase in displacement that we'll see more bennys from mods.. and should break the 500hp safely..

And that 412hp is not RW.. they never talk about RW in the media stuff.

Not that I would buy and Auto, but the Auto is supposed to be 6 speed too..

Weight should be the same as the S197.. bascialy just adding the 50# or so for motor..

One of the articles on it said it has a forged steel crank and upgrade pistons and rods over the s197s.

The isnt much more to the motor than the 3vs not reason to think the new GTs will weight much more than the 2010s

look at past history Ken...every car gets heavier when a new model comes out...more electronics, safety features, etc add weight
