An aluminum block is all I have seen. They will probably up the boost too. Even if the new GT costs 38k it doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that a new GT with the cost of a blower is going to be less than a Shelby and make a lot more power. The question is, how much did they upgrade the internals?

Mickey if the current S197 weighs 3500 pounds, and the 2011 version weighs 3700 pounds, that does not convert 412 horsepower to the equivalent of 350.

When figuring out this differential, the common accepted rough method for calculating power vs weight is 10 hp per 100 lbs.

So if the 2011 is indeed 200 pound heavier, it's more like 390-395 horsepower in a 3500 lb S197. Not 350.

Just sayin'.

Do you want it to be quicker than that? I dont wanna see a bunch of punks in 12 sec cars. . . .
Besides i like to mod my cars just give it potential. Im expecting a 12.8 car.

when will the "lets make it faster from the factory" insanity every end. In my opinion if they really wanted to give it to the competition they would build a car with less power that would out perform it.

The power battle from the 70's came to an end with all the new emission standards starting. I had really hoped that this "ecconomic crisis" would have ended the power battle for the 2000's.

I expect the curb weight to be within 50-100 of the 2011 models

On factory tires and suspension it probably won't hook for shit...which should be expected from any 400hp car in the 30k range. As far as weight, idk, it's still an S197. Fdjizm stated the tranny is actually lighter by a tick and everything I've read indicates the Coyote's weight is very similar to the 4.6 (maybe a tad lighter, too). If the powertrain doesn't and much weight than it should weigh roughly the same as a 2010.

I am going to say if it does weight more than its because of the extra frame support to handle the upped ponies! not to mention that it may also have bigger tires from the factory inturn having more weight.
im just excited about the news my sales guy gave me today on email check it out

"Trust though that even though the rebates are $1650 on the 2011 ! if you get put into a 2011 at a 2010 price you will be a winner! Either way , just make up your mind and sit tight and let me do the work on this"

I dunno bout the traction control on the 05 and ups but on my 03 its less than desirable, so maybe thatll change with 400 ponies. But the camaro can put some decent power and the GT500 manages sorta so theres hope. But what would a mustang be if it didnt need any work? beside being 50k+

Are you serious? The 07+ S197 chassis in the V6, GT, and GT500 are EXACTLY the same. You really think Ford is going to brace up this chassis for a 400 h.p. engine when they've already put a "540" h.p. powerplant in it? Gimme a break...

Thats an excellent point I wasnt even thinking bout, they already have a 540hp version of this the 2010 mustang so 400hp is not big deal.
