Naturally Aspirated Horsepower 2011 5.0

Hello guys,

Im looking to buy a 2011 5.0 Convertible this summer and I wanted to upgrade it to get between 500-550 Naturally Aspirated rear wheel Horsepower (Im not into superchargers on this one, trying to make my own custom "Boss" if you will).

What do you guys recommended for Naturally aspirated upgrades? I have heard of cold air intakes and exhaust upgrades but I am really lost as to what would be the best way to get to the 500-550rwhp mark?

thanks!!

The new 5.0 is totally different then the one they put in the old mustangs, and im not sure if you can get that high naturally aspirated, youll probably need nitrous

Wrong section buddy, go to "modular mustangs" and you'll see your section there.

new 5.0 supposedly has better flowing heads than race cars/nascars. I was gonna say heads and cam but if the car has that good of heads on it then your next best bet is gonna be cam.

Considering those cars are dynoing around 340-360 I think what you are asking for is not gonna happen. Maybe 420-430 with full bolt on's a tune and cam...???

First off i wouldnt get a Convertible, just my opinion though. But i thought the new 5.0 had 412 HP right out of the box maybe not to the wheels....

It might be some time before you see numbers like that n/a. Yes the motors are powerful, but no builders yet have really tore them down and worked different combos to see what builds more power. Right now the TiVCT is hampering the production of custom cams and the head design is brand new so no one has yet to see what can be yielded from working over a set.

WhiteMamba - best bet then cams upgrade? thanks!

1989Gt. - Yeah its gunna be a bit pricey but its a personal goal to get it that far. The car can do it she just needs help lol

ryanw - haha dude im a convertible guy, I wouldn't buy it without a convertible lol and yeah thats what i thought too but i guess thats crank not wheels.

rovelli92 - that was my first idea! I was gunna go 2012 302 but then then I dont like the color schemes, the interior isnt leather, and biggey - no convertible. I was gunna go to 2011 S302 but the prob I had with it its really pricey for a mustang, its like 20k more than the stock price.... and If i can get 20k upgrades and they look the same... id rather put 20k worth of upgrades in it... ya kno? (not 20k upgrades right upfront tho, overtime lol)

WNTS 2RN - yeah thats what i have noticed, barely any parts for them compared to older models of the mustangs... its mainly a waiting game, but i wanted to get a head start on it. My main focus now is to also get as many horses hitting the pavement and not getting lost in the drive system. If memory serves 365 (maybe...) rwhp... compared to the crank which is 412. I want to get the 412 back and get to the 500rwhp mark

I know a n/a set up makes for a nice project and a great conversation piece, but a s/c is going to be the way to go if you want power.

On youtube there are a few 1000 hp vids, if you take their word i guess. But on mustang50magazine.com there are some KOTS vids and those cars are close if not over a 1000 and they sound nuts on the dyno, I agree, I couldnt imagine driving one.

Oh and yea 5.0 mag did a KB cobra and when it made 700 horsepower they said it wasnt as fun to drive as stock because it was more work mentally like when to get into it a bit and avoid hitting bumps where your foot would bounce and when there was gravel or sand.
