Powershifting V6 T5 bad idea?
Our '06 has 47k miles and is probably still on it's original ATF. I'm going to change to fresh ATF this weekend (any recommendations on the best fluid?).
We just installed a Hurst last weekend and I've been wondering whether powershifting is a bad idea (I haven't powershifted it yet). I've read the 4.6 & 5.0 have found powershifting a V8 kills a T5. Will it hurt the T5 in a V6 to powershift it occasionally?

powershifting any transmission that isn't built for it, will kill it. Id advise against it.

I would have to agree.
Once in a while will kill it oh so slowly, but it sure is fun. |

if it kills it.. just use it as an excuse for a tr6060... every action has a reaction..

![]() It can't be good for it, but it has to be doing something, so it must be bad for it. To a degree.

No powershifting for me, then (I wasn't planning on racing the car anyway).
I've read the T5 won't hold up to powershifting in a V8 GT, but I was hoping that in a V6, it could handle it (clutch drop at high RPM).

Well the s197 GT's have a T3650, and the V6's have the T5, but that's for manual. Gt's and V6's both have the same auto tranny.

You'll mess up the syncros more than likely. It's not a good idea to do that.

Yes, no powershifting for me. Good news is, the trans has never been powershifted. Regular fluid changes should mean it will ast forever.
