Question

Cold air intake for 05 Mustang?

What would be the benefits of adding a cold air intake filter to my 05 mustang? Are there any boosts in performance (I know all parts are controlled by computers so I don't think there would be much). or is it just for looks/sound?

Also, any suggestions on cheap or easy modifications I could do to my mustang to make it sound/look/ run better?

I'm new here, so hello to you all!

Welcome to the forums. Your best bet would be to save up and get a tuner/intake combo. just a filter or an intake that does not require a tune will not do much for you.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow Nuwby.
+1 Doc. I put a K&N filter on my 2000 3.8, and again on 2003 3.8, probably nothing but
sound change when used with restrictive stock plastic pipe and air box. After crunching a deer with 03, dealer threw away K&N. Went with CIA after that. Thought I could feel
an improvement. Wish I would have done as Doc advised and got CIA/tuner combo.
With 2010 got a dyno reading before any mods. Piling parts in garage for now, until
CAI/tuner with all my basic mods programed in arrives. (ordered with 3 programs, 1 with
CAI only, took so long to get it that I changed to all 3 with all mods)
It's free advice and worth all that !

I think you've got the point, but it is more useful to get a tuner/cai combo. Plus the tuner can be used for lots of other things later on down the road when you want to do more modifications.

I put an Airaid system on mine. I did notice smoother acceleration. As well as a slight increase in power. Nothing to write home about. But for the extra couple hundred bucks, I would do what Youngin had mentioned. Better bang for the buck.

i went with the diablo sport tuner and a C&L combo, i believe it ran me $650.it made a drastic improvement plus you can modify the tune yourself. but from what i have heard, they are pretty close to the same.

you can get a Pypes muffler for about 140.00 that will change the sound of it dramatically without breaking the bank.
