visited some shops todayI went by the Ford service area and talked to the guy from Ford Racing about differentials and gears. I need to the the 8.8" if I get the turbo. The 8.8" comes with 3.55 gears. That runs at 1,400$. If i got the 3.73 gears, total would be about 1,700$. I guess my question would be, should I spend the extra money and get the 3.73's, or would it not really matter with the turbo? CLiffnotes: Exhaust: 450$ 8.8" which comes with 3.55=1400$ ----3.73's would bump that to 1700$ Is it worth it when i get a turbo? |

the 355s would work well with a turbo since it puts more load on the engine and will help you make full boost.

you can go to newtakeoff.com and find the same 8.8 with 3.55s or 3.73s with the tloc for much cheaper

you should be doing 3.55s with F/I anyways. Glasspacks sound like ass on a mustang IMO. I used to have some.

As for the rear end ... your stock 7.5" rear could most likely handle the extra power from a turbo unless you're spending a lot of time at the strip, but by the time you change your gear ratio and install a trac-loc differential you're just as well off getting a complete 8.8" assembly from NewTakeoff.com. Got mine for $859 or $879, something like that. I picked it up myself in Ft. Wayne, IN, on my way home from Ohio so there was no shipping and installed it myself so no labor etc.. It has 3.73 ratio w/ Trac-loc.
If you're not sure about the 7.5" rear, check out "Rygens Web Site". See what he's doing with the stock 7.5" housing.

Depends on the muffler, most people associate "cherry bomb"with the glasspacks they were made famous for, however, they also make turbo mufflers, similar to a dynomax superturbo or even the stock gt take offs. those would not sound anything like glass packs or other straight through perforated core mufflers. I believe he did say cherry bomb turbo (name only) in the begining of his post.
