Ya,400 to the wheels is a tough goal without doing some heads and cams.I am shooting from the hip,but i think one of the few to do that and with a pro charger combo got a 85 hp gain from it.I'd like to see someone do it and find out with an X.And i would'nt try without cooling of some sort i.e. meth/water injection,intercooler. .

that's what i'm talkin about. i plan on doing some cam/head work, but i don't know where to start when it somes to cams and heads in an f/i application. with the cam, what duration/lift just feels good with a supercharger? and what should i look for when looking for heads?

I'm afraid I can't help you there. Your best bet would be to talk to Chris Torres or actually contact somebody from a Cam/Heads place. Comp Cams might offer some advice.

Ok 101fng,this is about the most credible specific info i can get.

I happened to remember someone who is in the process of a built motor /x combo.A.K.A. ilduce321 gave me this response when i asked him about what he was up to.Based on his numbers previously,i would say though he would'nt that 400+ is gonna happen.Now,obviously,there are easier ways to get there but if that's what you want and got the moola then def go for it.

I've got a built block on the way and I've got the X. My block is coming from Super Six Motorsports, and I'm also using their Stage 3 Superheads and Stage 3 Cams. It will be a very aggressive setup.

I'm not expecting any problems with the X. I would, however, suggest getting a "custom" C/R like I did. SSM offers 10:1 and 8.8:1, which IMHO are too high and too low. I went in the middle and got a 9.4:1 ratio.

Later this summer, there will be an intercooler available for the X as well, which will make this all even more fun!

don't buy it from their. Buy it strait from the source Explorer Express- Ford Ranger - Ford Explorer - Ford Mustang Performance cause superchatural raised their price. The X-charger is from the above listed website.

As for what else you'll need, if you buy the full kit w/tuner + tune you won't need anything. It already comes with fuel injectors, you'll need to replace the spark plugs however. The stock fuel system is good for 350whp to 400whp, you'll be lucky to make 299whp with the 2.8 pulley HO version.

their is someone on the mustangcollective.com who already has a built engine (bscottie) and I think he made 314whp with forged pistons and heads.

That was 314 without his blower i would think right?It would'nt make sense any other way,but just checking. And don't forget i am predicting 400+ with X+ intercooler as well with an aggressive setup like what ilduce321(stage3 heads,etc) is getting.And hey,101fng,i would hope you are having an in depth talk with who ever you have do the build,not just taking paragraphs off the internet haha-That's alot of money to drop down,so get it right.

i was definately thinking about those stage 3 heads and cams, but goddamn thats expensive for heads and cams! i mean, i'm willing to drop 4 grand for a blower, but an extra couple grand for heads and cams, holy shit! does anyone else do heads and cams for the 4.0? and where the fuck can i find the intercooler for the X?

Yup,real expensive if you are'nt doing your own work as well.The intercooler is mentioned future tense.Mentioned alot to be out this summer.

If you add all this up with driveline upgrades,fuel pump upgrade maybe,some suspension stuff,alum driveshaft,custom tune you're at a 10k project prolly.I still see 350 being doable without heads and cams tho via intercooler/heat exchanger,smaller 2.6ish pulley.Purely on a peak power basis i rate us X-chargers like this.

I am pretty sure most go with a gt40 pump.Talk to these folks and they will know the exact ratings of our fuel pump and whether/when you'll need it later.I have ordered from them as well.Great service.

Jenna has alot of hands on experience with the 4.0 from there and has a self built/designed turbo as well.Not sure the status of the kits she sells or was selling,but anyhows....
