Weird Ticking Noise???? 06 V6 Stang

ok just a few days ago ive been hearing some weird ticking noise coming from were it sounds like were the engine and tranny meet or at least near the rear of the motor now it does sound like the injectors but this ticking is not the same sound but close......Now i took the car into the dealer (Since warranty is still active but barely) and they also can hear the noise, now before i even took it to the dealer i have a Fleet Mgr Mechanic buddy of mine just take a quick look at it and with just a few moments listening to it he gave his opionion and said it could be the injectors, so once the dealer finally called me letting me know they actually had to call FORD and have one of there technicians come out to see wuts going on, just like normal they said theres nothing wrong (Typical Dealer Reply) and that the noise is coming from the Intake were like the air dissapaits or w/e term he used now my question is has anyone else had this problem with there 06 V6 and if so wut what the outcome or problem (if they found any) and wuz it fixed, now ive had my car going on 3 yrs now (Bought in Oct-05) it barely has 16.2k miles on it so its still very much like new (barely broken in) and now this noise pops up which is annoying so let me know if anyone has ran into this problem and if theres a Fix to it thanks

John.

if you are sure its not the injectors (mine are loud) than I would check the lifters. Ours has overhead cam but at one end of the cam follower is a highdrolic lifter of sorts, if one is not getting enough oil or is stuck it could cause excessive lash and make a ticking or nocking sound. If you dont have a stethiscope. stick a long screwdriver to the head and put the handle firmly against your ear, do this in several locations to isolate the scource of the sound.

Other possibilities I can think of are piston slap, and or a sloppy wrist pin. If ford says it is fine then ask them to go start a v6 on the lot and compare the enguine noises to yours or bring a friends six up there with you and if yours does it and the other does not then dont take i"ts fine" for an answer. There is a ford customer service number you can call and they will investigate your problem with the dealer. I got a lot of customer service from my local dealer after calling it when the dealer repeatedly told me the a/c was fine on my truck. No probs with the stang yet.

piston slap
