Need some advise about CAI

I have a 2008 V6 with the Pony package. I have added the an FRPP exhaust and want to add a CAI. I would like to add the FRPP CAI but the tuner that comes with it is only for 93 octane. Can the FRPP CAI tuner be adjusted for 87 octane?

My other choice is the Roush CAI. If I went with this one will I get the same performance as the FRPP.

Does any one have a recommendation of a better Tune and CIA?

Welcome to the forums and I don't think there is a signifigant difference in different brands. Just as long as it doesn't have a lot of sharp bends.

just buy something thats qauilty made, and if i remember the FRPP doesnt look like all the great of an intake, alot of after market intakes now a days are using some insulation to keep the heat out. those ebay intakes heat up in a matter of minutes of driving and send the intake temps up. not to mention will begain to rust and look like hell if not taken care of regularly. just buy something name brand that you know you dont have to worry about. not sure what companys make then for those years v6, but i know C&L makes good intakes, i dont beleive JLT makes them for those cars or id reccomend those

i dont care if it is diamond, i wouldnt pay over around 100 on a CAI and that is the max IMO...for 1-2hp if u spend 200 u are retarded...not trying to offend anyone at all i just dont think that its rational

you have to understand man.. your v6 and his v6 are different. he will make more power with just a cai/tune then you will.

prob worst off buying a ebay intake, a few runs down the track and youll be sucking up more hot air then the stock one, might as well just throw a K&N stock filter. i made the mistake of buying a intake from ebay for my 94 v6 when i had no money, and itll never happen again, its like 16th of an inch thick of aluminum, i think i could hold my hands on it for five minutes and heat up the air going thru it

yeah, i went down the route of ebay cai. Becuz someone on this site said to do it. I got it for 40 bucks installed it and all i had were problems. First the pipe was smaller, thus makin the air more restricted then i had the issue of lovely error codes. If you want to have no issues jus get a JLT, C and L, Roush, etc CAI and get a tuner. Our cars are so tempermental you cant pull the ebay CAI.

What about the tune?

Roush recommends the Hypertech programmer, but you can only get the one chipped for the V6 through them and it is $500.

I saw a Diablo for about $379

hypertech is crap.
the diablo/sct are both $379.00 and much better tuners than a hypertech.
please don't make that mistake.

Will the xcal 3 come with the tune for a V6 with a CAi or is it just for stock?

I think I am leaning towards the Roush CAI but I saw an Air Raid CAI that looks exacley like the Roush unit. Is it the same unit with a Roush badge on it.

I have the C&L CAI and the Diablo tuner with a 91 octane tune. I bought them as a set and I am very satisfied. I have since used the tuner to re-tune for new wheels and tires, and for my new gears.
