I just bought an 07 Mustang 4.0 (v6) two days ago. I love it!

I've got a question though... In the manual it says it has an "shaker 1000, in-dash 6 cd" changer or something like that, I cannot figure out how to use the cd changer or if I even have it.

Thats my first question--How do I get that to work??



Next question-

How can I improve MPG? It's not that big of a deal, but I'm thinking of putting in a K&N air filter, is there anything else I can do?

How much will a K&N air filter even improve the MPG? Would it improve it by at least 1MPG more than the standard air filter on city driving? (ex: if normal is 18mpg city, would it improve it to 19mpg city?)

Also if there is any other small things I can do to improve mpg please tell me what they are, and by how much they will improve mpg!

if your headunit saids Shaker 1000 then you have the shaker system most likely the shaker 1000 comes with subs .

Cold Air Intake / Exhaust / Tune is your best bet for extra mpg

im not to sure but these might help too . throttlebody / spark plugs

It doesnt say Shaker1000 anywhere in the car but the manual! So I dont think is has that in it actually..

but does it have a cd changer?? Is that stock with these or not or how can I find out if it has one ?

The manual is generic. They will cover all stereo options in there. That includes the Shaker 500 and 1000, and your basic CD player. If you have either Shaker system it will say Shaker xxxx right above the CD slot on the stereo. Also you will have large 6" subs in each door in the lower front corner. The 1000 will have two subs in the trunk on the passenger side.

If you have the shaker 6 disc it is a in dash 6 disc unit. Then all you do is press the LOAD button on the left of the CD slot and pick your number from the station preset buttons 1 thru 6. It will prompt you when to load it. To eject press the eject sign right above the LOAD button and follow the prompted instructions.

The basic will not have a 6 disc unless you ordered an optional one. Then it would be a seperate unit. Not sure where they would mount it though. Commonly under the seat or in the trunk.

yupp . i dont think ford would make a different manual just for the cd changers . my car came with premium full options so i got the shaker system but i changed headunits and i miss the 6disc changer

Where my cd player is, it looks like that unit can be popped out. Does Ford offer an upgrade I can do to get a new one put in but just have it be one of those touch screen navigation systems that also do all of the radio/cd stuff?

yeah they can come out. You can go either two roads with this. a) get a head unit like alpine,kenwood etc or you can try to get a factory installed mustang navigation. IMO i would go aftermarket head unit. I love my alpine. Ipod hook up plays my ipod. If you want navi go wit magellian or something. Ford overcharges for shit.

+1 .. 2000 for navi is retarded ... esp ford one . yuo can get a way nicer one aftermarket . you forgot pioneer

Is there an aftermarket one that fits in that whole square space where the radio/cd player stuff is? And is there an aftermarket touchscreen navi / cd player? Or does that not exist?

pioneer makes a nice touch screen navi that would fit, and your mpg question your not gonna see any increase with mods in all honesty

thats the one they were talkin about if i was u i would go 2 best buy and or circuit city and pick u a pioneer avic-d3 which is a double din touch screen navigation/dvd/cd/ipod player its very nice you will be looking 2 spend around like 900-1200

You can e-mail FORD and they can send you a build sheet with everything thats on your car, all options included, when it was built on the assembly line. This may help determine what you have in your car.

i have the avic-d3 comes with ipod hook up on it has navi / calbe tuner / both satelite radio / backup camera option / xm nav traffic / and it plays dvd . but my mustang came with the ipod hookup in center console so it doesnt really need it
