is this a good year or should i not buy one. i'm looking at a 1999 cobra with 7007 original miles. white coupe

I like them too, mines an 01 but a buddy of mine had a 99 and he loved it. I think its the best bang for the buck. The early 99s were a little down on power from what they should have been though. Some got the fix and the fix was to have the intake runners extrude honed to help flow and that brought them back up to the 320hp mark. I like them in whit too. If the price is right Id say buy it, especially with those few miles on it.

What's the price? Those are pretty low miles so I'm sure it's a nice car, but usually when they are that low people want WAY too much money for them.

Like has already been mentioned, there was a re-call on them because they where not making the power that Ford advertised them as.

i was selling mine for 14k, i thought that was alot. but i wasnt really trying to sell it. 41k miles on mine. but ive seen some for about 8-9k with that milage(70-80miles)

ya we need the price, sounds like a great car. After the re-call they made a mark on the motor (cant remember where) i think its on the heads for all the recalls. When they did the recall's ford changed the intake, cats, and they re-tuned the car.

99 have decent heads/trans, strong block, forged crank but rods/pistons are weak if you are thinking of going F/I.

99s are good man. If you're going to abuse it I would upgrade from a t45 and either solid swap or swap for 03/04 irs. My mach 1 engine which is close to the same thing took a lot of abuse but it had basic bolt ons. Fi I think peaks around 7 to 8psi on stock motor.

If you get it, upgrade the IRS or do a solid-axle swap, and check to make sure that it has the head-cooling mod (one bank was known for overheating.

T-45s are fine, just get an aftermarket shifter.
