is this air filter too small


Just bought this car and tring to get it in top condition. If so what size do I need to get?

The filter creates a restriction in air flow. The smaller the surface area of the filter, the less air can get through in a given vacuum (N/A or S/C'd). That is why the filter is pleated. This gives a larger surface area in which to pass air (imagine it were one piece of filter material all layed out flat on a table). The larger the area, the smaller the holes can be. The smaller the holes can be, the more aggressive the filter can be in removing smaller particles.

You want high air flow with VERY limited restriction, but small holes to "catch" small dust particles and such. You want as large a filter as possible. As for the tubing, you want as smooth as possible with the least amount of sharp edges, turns and connections.

EDIT: Here is what I run..

This is NOT my ride as I have my filter down behind the fender well in front of the passenger tire. It gets very fresh and colder (dense) air just above the facial hole.
