so ive been working on a little project. Ive been having this little stalling problem every once and awhile where when im decelerating/ let off the gas pedal, my W/B would lean out for a second then when i stop her RPM's would hang, drop down to normal idle, then drop to the point of stalling. Sometimes she will even stall out when im coasting to a stop.

Needless to say very annoying and potentially dangerous. Went through the usual and cleaned out filter, checked MAF, checked and replaced TPS, adjusted TB, checked coils, checked injectors, played around with MAF positioning, and changed out fuel filter.

Nothing, I was starting to get annoyed and frustrated until I came up on something over at SVTP where a member (along with many others) was having the same problem and asked around and they had mentioned something about air still entering the sysytem through the hole in the fog light bezel upon deceleration causing turbulent readings in the MAF thus causing the ECU to calculate more air then fuel during deceleration and having that second or 2 lean condition and then the stalling.

He had purchased a brake duct kit to completely seal off that hole and has not had a problem since. I didnt want to buy a duct kit so I got around to thinking about a shield to allow the intake to still suck in cold air but when I decel to avoid air being pushed into the intake from the hole in the bezel, this is what I have done with some ABS plastic that I had laying around. Tell me what you guys think.











I see this also helping keep my filter clean by not allowing road debris, dirt, rocks, and other things from hitting the filter when im driving. now this is just a test dummy version. I will test it see how it works out and from there I will make a final design and a little smaller. Will have pics of it installed later when I get home.

do you have a RAI or CAI. I know that no one with a RAI has had this problem it just certain CAI. If you have a CAI i think that the MAF will get those turbulent readings and mess with the ECU. thats what alot of people have been saying over on SVTP. I know that a good dyno tune can help alleviate this problem but I honestly have not time right now to go and my job has me traveling around a bit so just wanted to fix it until I get a have time to get a good dyno tune.

I just have to K&N FIPK. I wanted to run ducting from my fog light bezel up in to the area below the filter just to bring some cooler air in to that area.
