It all depends on what you are trying to do and how much you have to work with. I was tossing the idea around of throwing a big block pushrod but im just gonna use what I have.

I want to have something i can take on the track but still have streetability and not have to spend a shitload of money on on it to get there i want to try and get a loan for around 10k to 15k at very most. but still generate as much hp as possible and ill have to replace the tranny and gears along with it due to me only have stock gears and tranny. which has to be included in the 10-15k

in that case I would go with a shortblock MMR, find a set of 4v heads and get them ported and get some valve work, throw a nice cam in there, a good flowing intake manifold, get a promotion tranny, suspension work, and if youve got anything extra left over get her boosted or put her on the bottle

what tranny should i go with the t56 6 speed or what? and for gears what would be better 3.73s or 4.10s

that, again, depends on what you are trying to do. you can get a promotion t45 or rebuild yours with promotion components and be able to hold a good amount of power, a t56 will allow you to run a taller gear and still be able to cruise on the freeway at low RPM's. Gears are all dependent on what you are trying to do. Some people will say not to run a tall gear on boosted applications or spray. Papasmurf ran 12's with stock suspension, H&R supersports, and spray. Some people will also argue that you can run taller gears with boost, some do, like the termi's but they fail to keep in mind that they also have a t56.

I highly recommend you do your research before you go into buying anything.

Set a list of goals first

1. Budget
2. Power level / times you want to run
3. Build from the inside out, make the rest of the car bullet proof before adding power and your car won't blow up and you wont be spending money more than once
4. Decide what goals you desire most, do you want to DD the car? If so what application best suits you for fuel, power, and being streetable? weigh the pros and cons of each path you can take
5. Lay out exactly what it will take to get you to you goals, decide on a path and the decide what you need fuel wise, rear end, transmission, shortblock, heads, cams, ect ect
6. Once you have that laid out you know the parts involved decide if it fits budget and goals, keep working with what you have to make the most of your money
7. Try to decide what wheel/tire combo you want to run, the tire setup with affect your gearing as much as your transmission will at least it did in my case
8. re-research everything and keep an eye out for deals, look at the bad in each decision before ever buying and weigh each path again, lay it out on paper and try to talk about it as much as you can to get better ideas of each decision

I spent 7 months before ever even deciding on a blower for my car, much less goals, where I wanted to go with it, and how I wanted the car to be. Take your time, spend your money wisely, and stick to a plan and you'll be much happier than just going out and buying a big blower with a powerful engine and replacing things as they break, my philosophy was to build everything else so it wont break before ever turning up the power, so I won't have to deal with downtime...

exactly the way you should go about it, this is what i do before i make any big purchases. I want to make sure that everything will compliment/work with each other.

well I want to have her for a DD but beable to take her down to the track on weekends and still run her in the 11s. Ive been told if i put a chip in her I can set up 4 programs so when im just DD her I can get the fuel milage but have other setups for when at the track or if im racing from a rolling start, plus put Nitrous into her and run high 10s on it. thats what Ive been told though but I dont know if thats true

I have no idea on these motors only what I know about mine, but that sounds like a reasonable goal if you spend the money right and know what it is your looking at. If you wanna run nitrous then you shouldn't have an issue seeing those numbers, its all going to be about the driver at that point with a manual trans

So my project just evolved even more, since I decided not to do the shortblock this year I started looking around, and I am feeling like I might be better off building a full long block, getting ported heads with the upgraded springs and titanium retainers, getting manley/oliver billet rods, diamond pistons, gt500 crank, ect ect

A block can be had for $600, crank for $500 unless I go billet, rods for $1300, get the block machined and have everything coated for the E85, get the heads totally built with a custom set of cams, swap everything over, and sell the long block, and I may assemble it myself or have my good friend assemble it, what do y'all think?

that sounds good to me. Im running diamond's and manleys in my setup. I honestly love the diamonds. The manleys are good as well but im running there H beams and at 1300 for rods im assuming that you will be running there billet "I" beams. what are your over all goals for your car?
