chuging in the cold???

once in awhile, usually in the morning when i havent driven my car since that past night and its usually cold in the morning. ill get in my car, turn it on and back out. I stay in the lower rpms cuz the engine is cold and it will chug a bit and each time i shift it doesnt chug as much. This is only when i give it gas. When the engine warms up, it doesnt do this whatsoever. Is this due to the cold weather and the engine be so cold? Btw its not a violent chug.

My vote; engine just isn't "up to par" yet. Just keep the rpm's to a minimum upon driving it if it's cold.

Also another suggestion, let it warm up for 5-10 minutes before you hop in and go too. That may help out a little bit

Sounds like it just cold. My 94 vw sometimes has a rough idle when its real cold, usually smooths out within a few minutes. just left it warm up a bit.

I typically let my car warm up about 5 minutes before I drive it. That's in the mornings before work. On lunch break I hop in and go. But im always easy on it for a first few minutes if its already warm or not. Kinda like if you've been sittin down for a while u don't wana just stand up and take off running. haha. It might help it might not. but its definitely worth a shot by doing it.

Every car I've ever owned over 50,000 miles ususally has required the engine to warm up before the idle smooths. I've heard it's due to the preprogramming of some electrical circuits, and at what point they switch off auto-pilot mode.

I know both my mustangs have to be warmed up before the "chugging" goes away.

Blue03, where do you live and what are the temps? Sometimes CAI, and RAI can hurt you in extremely cold weather. I used to have to take my CAI off in the winter, yet winter for me is single digit temps, with highs rarely going above 30 degrees.

I've started mine -15 a few times, turns over rough then fires up, it would drive fine but i'd never just get in and go with Minnesota winters, i just have a smoke while it warms up, shortens my life, but lengthens my cars
