Head Cooling. In need of Enlightenment.

Ever since the new acquisition of the '99 I've heard, from many sources, that a good head cooling mod should be in order.

Just curious, is this something the '99s were notoriously bad for? And what would this upgrade entail, exactly?

i think that it is something for all the 4v's as there is inadequate cooling occuring between and around the # 7 and 8 cylinders. I think that the coolant passages around these cylinders and how they are designed have something to do with this.

index

this is where i got mine as this one doesnt require you to drop the tranny or anything major, just pull off your intake manifold and follow the instructions. some of the vendors on here sell it as well so check around on prices.

Hmm I thought this was only really good to do if you were running F/I. I mean yeah, I guess you could do it if you want, but I didn't think it was hurting anything if you weren't F/I. I also thought it was more of an issue in 03/04 Cobra's & Mach's

yeah, but see I was running NOS so I wanted to be on the safe side when I was running it. Also we run the same engines as the Mach, so if they need it why wouldnt we, I mean only real difference is some of the 01 cobra's came with a teksid instead of a Wap

i havent heard of a mach with a teksid, only a few 01 cobra's. the cooling mod is something that is an investment, should be done for more reliable cooling. when pushing a power adder on top of it, it should be something that is done as a supporting mod.

Sounds like something I'll keep in the books for later in the engine's lifespan... around the time I plan to force air into it
