how much boost??

I've got a D1sc intercooled 97 cobra(8.5:1 comp). So I researched, and my car was never really dialed in and I want to get the boost safe for 91 octane and have it alll tuned. I do have a 3.5 inch reichard pulley on the blower and a 6.5 inch lower pulley.Does any one with a similar setup know what ballpark psi that is?

I have no idea. Just call the Procharger company tech line and ask them.

ya i did, they are no help whatsoever. "oh we have no idea, not even ballpark...just look at the boost gauge"lol I guess just fill 'er up with some race gas and see what happens.

If I were you I would go to a reputable speed shop and talk to them on what you are trying to do, they should be able to provide some insight on what you should be able to do with your setup and dial it in.

Get a boost gauge, they're cheap, and do a little research on shops in your area and get a dyno tune. Dyno tuning isn't cheap, but it can save you a lot of money in the long run. Sounds like you have a nice setup. I'm jealous.

thanx guys. I have a lunar boost gauge on it, and I researched and found the guy that built the motor and dynoed the car. It all came down to, he said to fill it up with race gas and read the gauge and go from there as a starting point till I get to around 14-15 psi, then bring him the car in san jose to fully dyno tune it. thanx for your insights

So,I filled it up with some 110 sunoco and hammered down...she DOES hit 21 psi like the guy said! It was a blast, but it sux cuz I do have to try and tweak the boost down about 6 pounds...What size pulley would any of you guys recommend trying to drop the boost from 21psi to my goal of 15psi? it looks like it will clear up to a 4inch (3.5inch on it right now,6.5inch crank)

Biggest I've seen on a blower pulley is 3.6". I think you're gonna have to get a bigger lower pulley. Is that on a 6 or 8 rib? Any belt issues?

Its on a 8-rib setup with a reichard racing manual tensioner. don't u mean get a smaller crank pulley to underdrive it more...i thought a bigger lower will speed it up?

hey dudelinger, i have an almost identical set up as you do, d-1 on a fully built motor with 3.4 or 3.5 pulley and was told it should give me 16lbs of boost. but you are seeing 21lbs with a 3.5? i am having crazy belt slippage even with a reichard racing pulley, i'm interested in that manual tensioner you are using, is it the one for the lightnings from reichard?

here is the link to what I have on it. it is actually an ac delete.my car has no a/c on it. It worx great for no belt slippage tho, and it is going to 21psi at about 5800rpm wot.

ah ok, i see, i'd like to keep my a/c if possible, SW Louisiana summers are ridiculous. mine will climb to 7000rpm so quickly, probably one reason i have the belt slip, but seems like a 3.5 reichard pulley and 8 rib belt should do the trick. i had a 2.9 pulley at first and was seeing over 20lbs of boost, that's why i put on the 3.5 and have seen 14-15lbs.
