^ The other thing is where else would you want an extra 50-80lbs, but right over your tires...reason #2 for better launch and hooking...

I'm not one for the drag strip. I'm a fan of the road/track racing style so I love my IRS.

Whomever said Cobra = Heavy is not exactly right...
03/04 Cobra = Heavier than GT 96-01 Cobra = Lighter than GT but closer in weight as the year increases. Basically lighter engine, less weight up front, but slightly heavier brakes which isnt so bad because its so low and more distributed across the body. That is all

That GT is Trevor. He has a shit ton of suspension work done, gears, tubular K, hi tech cams, all that..
Stock Cobra gets horrible wheel hop off the line. Put it this way, put $2,000 into suspension and pull an SRA swap with some 31 splines, and some steeper gears, with a set of slicks, you'll be in the 11's no doubt. |

I have heard some URBAN legends getting thrown around in here something serious!!!! Wow, the only guys that seem to know half about what they are talking about in this thread OWN a 03-04.
Here is a dyno sheet of my car. BONE STOCK, all the way down to the air filter..... ![]() I had mine in the mid to high 12's with a good set of tires. STOCK. 12.5-12.7. Wheel hop. Let me get some things straight here. People don't know how to put a good tire on or how to put the right air pressure in them to prevent this. That is all. My IRS, up until this winter has been BONE stock. It has taken me into the 6's in the 1/8th and not once broke a axle. Weight is about the only thing I have seen some of you get right. Yes, it is a heavy pig. But that is fixable with a little spare time. Alot of un necessary things can come out. If you are into drag racing you won't miss them anyway. Another thing. The IRS is not better then the SRA at the track. Period. If it was, the NHRA would be all over it. But they aren't. Some people, can actually make a IRS launch pretty good. (I know I can) but put a equally built SRA in the ass end of the car, and I'll walk off and leave a IRS sitting at the lights.......
