400 hp N/A?
What would be the best way to get 400 or higher hp out of the mach 1 motor N/A?

H/C/I, full supporting bolt ons, P&P work on the heads and intake manifold, valve job, tune... just to name a few.

Cams and Dome Pistons to make 11.5:1 or better compression would help.

Heavily ported heads, a custom short runner intake, built bored and stroked lower end. billet oil pump, custom high rpm cams, a badass fuel system, 60lb injectors, titanium valvetrain pieces, 11:1 compression, race gas, and a badass tune to start.

IMO the real question is 400rwhp or 400hp at the crank. cause one is a hell of alot easier than the other.
If you want 400rwhp. Don't waste your money going N/A. get a procharger or some kind of blower and hit what stock internals can handle. after that save your money for forged goodies and then it is as easy as turning up the boost. youll spend as much money trying to go far n/a as you would for a blower and hitting past what your motor can even handle with stock internals.

Um. YOu guys are way off. lol.
I took a stock lincoln Aviator motor...same longblock as the Mach 1, except has a tad bit LESS compression. 9.7-9.8:1. Threw Crower cams in it, degree'd them, BBK L/Ts, O/R H pipe, Flowmaster cat back, BBK twin 65mm T/B and a K&N FIPK....and 30lb injectors. car made 363rwhp. Through my stock MAF. I have seen a similar car make 323rwhp with bolt ons, and then swapped out the stock MAF for the LMAF and picked up 9rwhp. So my MAF was restricting me a ton. 400rwhp can be had on your stock longblock, but you have to figure out the combo. Custom cams and degreed in, Ported Short runner intake by NaztyPerformance, a nice set of longtubes and mid pipe, and you WILL be knocking down the door of 390-400rwhp. Right now I am in the middle of my new build. Happy factor is 400rwhp. Goal is 420-430rwhp. N/A. |

While I agree with you...I also disagree. Yes making power with boost is easier and sometimes cheaper...but it can be more expensive in the long run as well. Plus another thing I have figured out...there is always, always something you have to do with boost...something here, something there...always nickel and dime-ing you. WHen my car was N/A, I literally drove it and that was it. Everyday it saw 7100-7200 rpm on the stock bottom aviator end. 4.30s and all. Just drove the hell out of it. I have had 5 different power adder combos on 4 different motors, and I have always ended up going back to N/A. Yes it is harder to make power...but I think if you stay inside the streetable doable power level...it will be more fun in the end. |

and you can have all that above for about 3-3500 bucks. Most super kits are a little more expensive than that. Not that the supers couldn't get you more power...but who cares...you are at the limit of the internals anyway.

400 n/a just takes the right parts. no need to stroke it, heavily ported heads will hurt the set up (depends on what "heavily" is), stock valvetrain is sufficient just change springs, 30lb injectors is plenty to support it, and stock fuel system with pump change is plenty.

Sounds like a buncha headache to me lol. Gee, maybe that's why my dad prefers NOS or a SC.

Well, I'm th process of my build right now, and I should make around 360-380. and that is a nitrous setup. So I'm not too far off.

Like I said...you should be clearing my old numbers...I hope your 'build' is just cams and exhaust with a decent intake...otherwise you may need to go to a titanium instead of billet oil pump, a 5.4 stroked and big bore, better race gas and 200lb injectors.... |

I'm thinkin save up for a SC. Now the decision comes to which brand to buy.
