What did you get? A half inch?

If it's cold out I have a hard time getting traction with the 4.10s. I don't know how the IRS will handle it as I haven't driven a car with it. And to top it off you're making more power than I am. You should take your own advise and find a local who has gears and see if you can take a ride or drive their car.

Drive it for what? I have the 4.10s in a straight axle.

How tall of a tire C MY 4D? Do you have rims bigger than 17 x9 ? What combo are you runnin? I don't have any problems with traction and mine is still the irs. I too drove to work in the snow when others with 4x4 couldn't, what a joke. You are also right where the driver is concerned, if you drive sensibly you will be rewarded. Kind of like the moron driving 100 on rain soaked 64 and crashes head on and dies, if he were sensibly driving he would probably be alive today.

On the street I'm still running 275/40R17s. At the track I was running 26x10.5x15. I'll be switching up to a 28x10.5x15 to get the few extra MPH I need and it will help increase the footprint. So with the new suspension and tires my 60 foot should be alot better this year.

As for the engine it's still only a 2.8 pulley, JLT High boost RAI and a canned tune.

This is true, but I'd rather be safe then sorry. Eventually I'll get a beater and slap some drag radials on.

1Badsnake, 4.10s are fine as long as you dont boost the hell out of it. If you want to go turbo, 3.55 is the lowest you want to go. 3.27s would be even better. This is because a turbo needs to have a load on it to build boost. With 4.10s and a turbo you would be out of RPM and have to shift before you made any boost.

But if you're stickin with your stock blower, even if you pulley it, 4.10s should be fine. You throw more than around 18lbs of boost at it and you're gonna want 3.73s or 3.55s. And with the 4.10s, I would recommend running a 28 inch tall tire at the drag strip.

Oh and you're carrier is already 31 spline, but the level 5 half shafts will surely help keep you on the road and off the jack stands. Install a diff cover brace while you're at it too.

What do you mean by they are already 31 spline? All the spec sheet says is 26 spline on the driveshaft and 26 spline on the half shafts. I am SOOOOO confused now? If you can give me a reference for this info I would be greatly appreciative.

not the half shafts, and the driveshaft but your actual rear end components, are 31 spline. The 2v's and previous 4v cobras have 28 spline rear end components.

Which components? I have 3.73's in now with stock shafts. Fill in the blanks for me. I assume that the gears are 31 spline and all I need to upgrade would be the 31 spline half shafts. Does that seem right?

Your half shafts are 31 spline. The '01, '03 and '04 Cobra all have 31 spline half shafts from the factory. This means that where they slide into the carrier inside the rearend housing, they have 31 splines. Gears dont have splines. The ring gear bolts onto the limited slip carrier. Do yourself a favor and pick up the Haynes manual, or start reading Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords or 5.0 Mustang, and get some basic knowledge under your belt. It will help you understand a lot about your car.

Diabeetus, If the stock half/shafts are 31 spline why would I need to upgrade the to level 5 shafts? Thanks for your input, I just got a manual. I work in surgery and have to see patients in the office , so I don't have alot of time to screw around with working on the car. I usually just pay for the work to be done. I know that is sad, but I just don't have the time. Maybe after I read some info, i'll try some of the basics.

Well mine has the stock 3.55's and I ran 11.7 in the quarter mile with drag radials. When I put on my Kenne Bell I just ordered I should be high 10's maybe. I'm keeping stock gears on that setup as well.

I went from 3:73's to 4:10's and loved it. After about a year I put 4:30's in.. I love it way more!!

+1
3.27's are ideal with the turbos, 4:10's will kill your powerband with a TT setup.

this is the gear i use, but only motive makes it, and its a whiney gear. i have heard the the t-56 is fun to shift under power with a 28" tires and 4.10's, so i have never changed mine out. plus on a 26" tire with my 3.90's i hit the traps right at 6300rpm's. cannot complain about that one!
