Never had that problem, but will take note to attempt to prevent that from happening. So did you find out what was causing the overheating?

Air bubble in cooling system.

Also look into possibly a new water pump. How many miles on the car? Recent coolant flush lately?

Happened to me.

yea it could be a faulty waterpump you can have it pressure tested to make sure you coolant is flowing smoothly it can also be your thermostat. the thermostat is suppose to hold the coolant into the engine until it gets to a certain temprature then it releases back in to the radiator and goes through the cycle again.

There is a plug on the coolant cross over. Remove that plug when it is cold and refill the system from there. They like to make air pockets in that cross over after you service the coolant system.

this is my thoughts exactly. i bet you have an air pocket, and that definetly will cause it to overheat...

Speak of the devil...I had problems a couple months ago w/ mine over heating...got a new water pump bled the system of air 3 times and no problems.

UNTIL LUNCH TODAY. Running fine all day, I pull through the drive through in McDonalds and as I'm waiting in line to order the fucker starts climbing...it went up about an 1/8th of an inch past the middle stayed there until I got to pull around and shut her off in the parking lot. Shut her off and ate my food there in the car while letting it cool off. Started it back up, it warmed back up to the middle of the gauge and no problems on the way home...

You leave your car running in the driveway while you are inside for 10 mins? WHere do you live?

Have you checked to make sure the I/C pump is working? If your I/C reservior isn't bubbling while your car is running, then it's probably a bubble like everybody else said.
