So not the cap, but what the cap screws into? On mine, that's the valve cover.

There's not really better or worse quality ones, I'd just go with OEMs, myself. You can get custom ones if you want, but it's just a dress-up part.

looks to me that the main timing chain gear bolt broke on the exhaust cam. that gear looks like its out of place compared to my pic

i was driving down the highway at about 60-65 mph after work. So now what do i do? should i just buy new covers or should i get all new heads? and where do i get a new chain since it probably broke to make that happen.

before buying anything you should take it apart and survey the damage and then compose a list of parts that you will need. If your not comfortable with it then take it to a shop. It looks like your exhaust cam gear is off the cam. Invest in a new timing set up, chains (primary and secondary), guides, arms, tensioners (primary and secondary). you might possibly have alot of work on your hands.

Man thats bad news for anyone, I would buy all of your own parts and take it to a shop. 9 out of 10 they will try to jurk you around on something like this because there is alot they are going to have to pull apart.

You're probably going to want to replace the entire timing kit at the very least, The parts can run anywhere from $400 - $800 depending on where you get 'em. With labor, the total for that will run you somewhere in the neiborhood of $1200 - $1800. That would include putting new valve covers on, but of course those are going to cost you money. You'll probably want a new damper to be safe, and those run for around $180. Total for timing, damper, and valve covers plus labor will probably be in the neighborhood of $2k

If you don't know what you're doing, find someone to help you. If you can't, you're definitely going to want to take it to a shop. This is more than likely going to be a somewhat pricey fix. Just keep your fingers crossed that nothing else got damaged internally.

Something else to keep in mind is that if anything broke off under your timing cover, odds are it is now in your oil pan. If you don't have a tubular k member, you're going to have to drop the k-member and pull the oil pan off to get to whatever may be in there. Pull your oil filter off and check to see if you have anything in it.
