i've been having a problem with starting my car. and going back and forth between whether it's the alternator or the batt. I charge the batt up and it starts, now if i only let it run for a minute or so and shut it off then try to start it back up, it doesn't have the juice. but if i drive it a ways and then shut it off and try starting it, it starts up. any ideas as to which one it may be. i keep switching back and forth on it's the batt or its the alternator. it bugs me because i am afraid to turn it off anywhere but my own driveway

Sounds like the batt to me, but like said above you can go to like auto zone and they should be able to test your alternator. take alot more then a min to charge up a dead bat tho
