2v 5.4 vs 4v

I am doing a 5.4 swap in a 1990 LX, and the 5.4 is a 2v. I wanted a 4v but the price was just too good to let go. Is it possible just to swap the 2v heads over with the 4v? I am planning on a turbo and i heard the 4v heads would be much better flow.

Any 4v head will fit the block but your hardest decision will be which intake to get. The 4.6 4v heads have smaller ports than the navi heads.

well the 4v engines are much harder to find since they only come in the lincoln navigators and blackwoods. And i had a price on this engine i couldnt pass up. But i have heard that these engines in the newer 2000 and up gts can run 12's on just stock motor. Is that true?

5.4 2V is junk for RPM and performance....

4V is the only way to go. If you are looking for Turbo...and only want 12s...um...yeah. lol.

Sorry...just thought that was amusing....

What is your goal. WHy 5.4 and why 4V and why turbo....if you do all those three and give the right parts and build...1000+hp is pretty attainable....and 12s would be pathetic unless you trapped about 140-150 mph. lol.

well basically, i wanted to do something that was completely different then all the other fox bodies i have seen. And i want something that is quick and can be driven everyday. Thats why i decided to go with the 5.4, and the fuel injection is a plus. And i figured that not only would this swap be rare to find in a fox body, but its hard to find them in any mustangs really. My end goal is to have a 800 horsepower street monster.

I hope you have the money for that. Hp aint cheap. If you plan your build on a piece of paper and total it up...multiply it by 2 and that'll be pretty close on how much you're going to spend.

How much $$ you looking to spend?

Yea, i know it wont be cheap. The car already has a ton of money in it, so this wont be anything new. But this go around i probably have about 12 thousand to put in it. Plus what ever i can get of my rims, tires, hood, and old 5.0 and tranny. And i have a set of seats im gonna get rid of too.

Phoenix, did you encounter any trouble adding 4v heads to the 5.4L? Did it fit under your hood? What other parts did you need? It sounds very interesting. Thanks.

It might even be cheaper to buy a 2v and get the TFS heads that are coming out.
