Question

Popping/Looseness in Front End While Cruising

When i am driving on smooth roadway...i notice it in 5th gear the most, i hear and feel a popping noise from the front end... i can audibly hear it, and i can slightly feel it through the gas pedal. The suspension rides perfect over any kind of pump. but when i am cruising i have that problem and its weird. Its almost like a rattle like something is lose and is bouncing up and down, but i feel it through the pedal... any ideas ???

BTW my car is lowered with Eibach Sportlines. everything else in the entire suspension is stock.

What makes you think it's in the suspension?

i consider it popping. a popping that would come from something being lose.... when i hear it, i feel it on the pedal. if i am holding the gas down at a constant level, and i hear it pop, it will pulse the pedal back. it isnt a major noise or major feel, its slight, but its there.

How often does it pop? Does doing anything make it happen more? Anything make it happen less? Does it happen turning, or only going straight? Any particular rpms that it will/won't happen?

on the freeway cruising in 5th, holdin the gas steady, it occurs at a kind of fast pace, the popping and feel seem random. its almost like an exhaust pop, but i can hear the exhaust and it seems seperate from my problem. when i was just driving in town, i put it in 5th to quite the car overall, and it was happening but at a much slower pace

it happens regardless of rpm, but when i am in low rpm i notice it more because the car is quieter and feel it more because the car is doing less, just cruising

Is this a noise, or something you feel? Or both? And if you feel it, where do you feel it? In your ass? In the steering wheel? Towards the front of the car, or the back? Does the car drive straight? Is there any excess play in the steering wheel? Does the car pull left or right at all?

What gas are you running? Do you run any additives? How many miles on the car, and when did you last SeaFoam it?

its both a noise and a feel. i hear it and its coming from somewhere under my feet toward the front. and i feel it in the gas pedal. when the pop occurs it pulses the pedal back ever so slightly and randomly. its a nuisance. the car slliiighhhtllyyy pulls to the left becasue the car im sure needs an alignment. steering is solid.

Well, the car doesn't run perfect, hahahah.

What octane fuel do you run?

it almost seems like exhaust pop...but ill gas it a little and hold it and the exhaust sound increases naturally but the problem remains steady.

no definately not backfiring.... it has nothing to do with engine speed. the speed of the noise and feel depends on vehicle speed.

What size wheels/tires are you running? Any play in the wheel bearings? When's the last time you checked torque on your lug nuts?
