Upgrades for my 98 Cobra

Hi guys, I'm 17 this is my first car I just picked up a 1998 SVT Cobra stang 5 speed, it has ZR1 Cooper front tires and some other back tires ( dont remember the name) It's pretty much all stock except it has a K&N Filter. I like to race people on the street for fun. What would you sugest would be the best bang for the buck? I heard Gearing is really good, If I got 4.56's would that decrease my top speed alot? And are 4.30's better? I'm going to driving every day to school im not dragging it but i like to go fast and have fun.

Thanks Joe

Any brands, types? Should i get a short shifter? and Exhaust you have any ideas i know its on personal preference but I whats a good sounding exaust for cheaper then a magnaflow. What gears are good? 4.30's ive heard alot about them i heard if you get 4.56 you have to reinforce the IRS. Should I get it tuned or would i have to buy a tuner my self?

Thanks Joe

Everything is preference man.... For a shifter i have a steeda and it hasnt failed me yet. Exhaust you need to get on you tube and just listen to different set ups. X-pipe for a raspy sound and a H for a deeper muscle tone. Gears.... you dont want those 4.56's for a DD thats going to rape the shit out of your gas mil. big time. 4.30's are a good set for DD and racing, but if your worried about rapping your car up on the highway i would go with 4.10

Oh and FYI you dont have a IRS... wasnt sure if you knew or not

For exhaust I'd head over to YouTube and check out different types/sounds. I love my Mac ProChamber (midpipe) and Mac Cat-Back. And I have an MGW for a shifter.

Ohhh, is that a disadvantage? Sorry im a noob but I'm trying to learn I understand that would put me at a disadvantage for handling but i heard you have to reinforce the rear end if you put on some hefty ammount of upgrades for performance would I not have to do that?

Thanks Joe

the IRS is going to be "To each his own" some people like it for the twisties and roads for DD while other preferred the feel of a SRA especially when it comes to the track. Either way depending on what you want to do you are going to have to reinforce it either way. Ive got a SRA installed in mine right now but have the IRS in the shed if i decide that I want to go back.

i will +1 on the mac system. Ive got MAC LT's, Prochamber, and catback and love the way that it sounds at idle as well as WOT. I have a Hurst shifter that ive never had problems with but have heard alot of good things about the MGW.

WOT= Wide Open Throttle

Hahaha thanks for clarifying WOT, didn't know what that meant. Btw for a stock cobra with ZR1 Cooper tires in the front and Z17 (Dont remember Brand) Supra tires on the back, whats a good rpm to drop the clutch at for 0-60. (I have a stock clutch btw.)
