4 valve swap
I have a complete 98 Lincoln Mark viii and want to put the engine in my 96 mustang gt. The mustang is a 5 spd. I was wondering how much I need to keep from the Lincoln, and how much will need to purchased.

Just drop the engine in, plug up your gt engine harness and have the ECU tuned

there is way more too it then that. I am close after a year of messing with mine, and still have issues. For one, the mark viii enging is coil on plug. As for the eng, and computer harnesses, they are totally different. Then there is the transmission issues (that is where i am at now). In short, it all depends what dirrection you want to take with this conversion. First you must decide what trans you want to run (auto or manual). Then you pick your computer. After you have the computer picked out then you can map out your wire harness. If you need help ive problay already been there, just email me.

A friend of mine has done a Mark iiiV swap in his 97 NPI Mustang last year, he used his stock wire harness with coil pack and spark plug wires (no COP's) and ECU, he deleted the IMRC's and had the STOCK GT ECU tuned...
Swap cost him $150 for the complete motor at pullapart and $250 for the IMRC delete kit from MMR, a 96 Cobra intake with TB and egr he got for free, not sure what he spent on exhaust components but car runs great considering the motor was out of a 94 with an unkown milage and history.

im working on the same swap right now as well. pretty much from the mark all you want is the block/heads. get rid of the intake for a 96-98 cobra. you would have been better off getting an engine from a pre-96 mark because they would have had the coil packs like your car but all you really have to do to make what you have work is buy a set of non-cop vavle covers and you will be fine. your trans/flywheel/clutch will all swap over to the mark block. all the sensors you have will go to the same places on the mark engine and there are a few you have to lengthen. (IAC and a coolant temp sensor come to mind) swap the mark oil pan for the one on your motor and change the pick-up tube too. other than that jsut get a tune to get the full potential out of the swap and your good to go.

Yeah, I have it on MF too. My best advice is to get the cobra lines, I wound up cutting one off in the straight section, then taking a short hose down to it. Then on the other one, I wound up getting two hoses that turned 90 degrees and used a coupling on them to make it a 180 degree turn back to the core line. It works, but took a lot of rigging. The cobra pipes would make it a ton easier. I will snap a few pics of what I did, it's kinda hard to describe.

![]() did you end up keeping the MK VIII intake mani. for long term or ? i swapped it out for a Cobra intake mani. hopefully i can figure out where all the vac. lines go and all. and im hoping i will be able to reuse all my gt sensors on it as well.

i was watching svtperformance for a while and saw this one local for $175 so i was all over that like flies on $h!t. cuz i picked it up i ended up getting it for $150
and i saw your vids on MF and it seems like on the GT tune and the lincoln intake the car had alot more balls than factory (it looks like alot more power than even my car with the bolt-on's) |
