Thermostat/Temp question

I just installed a 180 degree Thermostat and the car still warms up all the way to the middle and even sometimes a tad to the right. the same as it did with the oem thermostat. why isn't it warming up so that the needle is a little to the left like it should be ? should i switch to a 160 thermostat ? the car never overheats or even comes close. just a tad to the right...

maybe your gauge is off by a little bit. I would do a coolant test.

my water temp sender is doing the same but on the cold side...
it's never go higher than 150 but the ECT is at normal temp (192-196)

if you have a tuner, look at the ECT value to see if it's not too hot

Shoot the coolant crossover with an infrared gun and also the t-stat housing and see if it's opening right away, etc.

I think its the Temp Gauge. When i looked at it this morning when my car was dead cold. the needle wasnt all the way down. it was above the black line. so that would explain why it reads hotter then it really is ...

Mine has ALWAYS read just a little to the right of the center.
