Okay ... been gone for a couple of weeks and ran into a couple things I need answers to.
My big concern is on the lower end of the engine. Theres a pan/cover (looks like a bracket for the oil pick up tube) that sits in the oil pan bolted on studs to the block. Well the studs were there on the old block but all but one are absent on the new one. Ideas? Is this piece needed?

Second. I've gotten to the timing well again this is where the "New" block and "Old" block differ. When I went to put the timing chain bracket in place on the passenger side of block, were there once was a threaded hole(old block), there was now a hole with a rolled piece of harden steel, not a stud (new block). Well I pulled the piece out, hoping the hole would be threaded on a long shot, it wasn't. Next plan of attack, tap it. Well I don't want to tap the block directly so I tried the rolled piece of metal, no good. Next plan.... some sore of anchor or fastener? Well haven't given it a shot yet. Any other ways of approaching this?

Holy Crap!!! A 2 Month Delay in My Thread! Computer problems have been preventing my activity. Anyways... still need a couple of answers to my previous post. As for further progress... Ran into a couple more problems with the timing chain retainer. The Bolt that holds the retainer to head stripped as well.

(1) The hole that was stripped. The bolt here holds the timing chain retainer to head. This was stripped but repaired buy re-taping it.

(2) This one proved to be a little more challenging. The new block was not threaded where the retainer lines up. Fix: JB Weld w/ anchor.
