Replacing Mach 1 Hood Decal
Anyone ever done this? I bought the decal from AM and totally fucked it up, pretty bad air bubbles. I ordered a new one, any tips?

Ummm... put some windex on before and you can slide it around until it dries. I know you can do this with tint, can anyone verify if you can do the same in this case?

I did. That's where the bubbles are formed. I tried using a squeege to get them out with no luck, all I did was put scratches in it.

instead of a squeege i use a microfiber cloth sometimes for that type of stuff, but if u do use a squeege type thing then you need to spray the top of the decal too so it will slide across. and as above post says, once you get all the big stuff out let it dry in the sun a little while then u can take a needle and pop the air bubbles and then you might be able to get most of em out

Put it on dry. No air bubbles that way. Just have to make sure you get it started straight
![]() I do all mine dry. Just works better for me. When I have tried it with soapy water I could never get the bubbles out. |

I could see that too, but its gotta be so hard to do it dry. I've actually never done it. I've done stripes, but thats different.

Fuck that I would never try to put it on dry. I am too picky about it being perfectly straight. I did use soapy water, I didn't mean windex, the new decal comes in monday, so I guess i'll try it again.

I used to use the gel made for applying graphics on my dirtbikes. I don't know the name, but you can buy it at any motocross accessories store.

That was the only part of the car I didn't like. The crap decal. When I did the lettering in the back I just used soapy water to wet the decal and applied to a washed surface. Also when smoothing do so from the inside, out. As for my decal though... *Rip* did away with it.
