I haz a rattle

Ya, so my car has been rattling. I lifted it up last week to find it, and to change the oil and lube it and all that good stuff. Everything was tight. I loosened my exhaust and straightened the rear pipes, and tightened it back up. Still rattled. Seemed to be louder when car was warmed up.

I lifted it up tonight again but made sure it was warmed up good this time, and had it running and listened to see if I could find it. At idle really couldnt find anything. I guess my suspicions were right though. I took a mallet and tapped the cats in my Magnaflow catted X pipe, and sure enough, the driver's side one is rattling. Glad I found it and that it's not something serious like the motor rattling or anything.

Bought the pipe new last year, put about 6,000 miles on the car. I was told the warranty is 24 months or 24,000 miles. Car hasn't had race fuel, and hasn't been run pig rich or anything I don't think. It has scraped a few times, doesn't have any dents or bends, but is scratched up. Do you think they'll cover it??

I dont know... most companies if they see any sign of damage they wont warrant it. But you never know though.

I'm going to agree w/ Wraither; but it also depends on the companies and how bad the scrapes are. You can sometimes get away with small tiny scrapes/scratches. But honestly ...

They aren't bad, and it's not dented or bent... just scuffs across the bottom of them.

just throwing it out there.... did you check your heat shield cause my buddies truck was making the same sound and when he went to investigate it turned out to be his heat shield in which he got it welded back together for $25. Thats only if you dont want to get a new one and they say no.

As someone that deals with customers on a regular basis I hate to say this, but if you are a big enough dick about it I bet they will work with you.

guess i have always gotten lucky. i am always very calm and cool when i return something. dunno if being 6'8" 315lbs has anything to do with it though.

Well, the stock H pipe is back on so I can see about sending this in to get warrantied. Rattles are gone, the left cat is definitely loose inside.

I also found this inside the little tin cover that goes over the clutch fork:
