Any idea what this is? Found in clutch.

I changed out my X pipe to the stock H today because one of the cats is bad. I had bumped the little tin cover that covers up the clutch fork so I removed it to straighten it back out. There was a little chunk of stuff bouncing around in there, so I guess I had more than one rattle. Looks like a pin or dowel of some sort, about 3/4" long and 1/4" diameter. It's a little mangled up now.

Here's what I found inside:

Dowel pins are known for breaking off. In the 12v Cummins engine they call them killer dowel pins.

But if it's 3/4 inch long like mentioned, that is typically normal dowel pin length, which I guess if that's what it is, either way you should hang onto it for when you do your clutch next. Or pull your inspection cover and check it yourself.

Whatever it is, it doesn't look like either end is broken off. It's pretty mangled though, probably from getting chucked around inside the clutch. I'll know for sure someday though when I pull the tranny out to do my TOB that's chirping a little bit once in a while.

Not anymore. All fixed and no more rattles.
