96 cobra nosie
Ok, sorry to have to ask for help again but once again I got a weird noise. A little back ground i just changed the clutch,TOB,pilot bearing and flywheel. It has a spec stage 2 clutch used the OEM TOB and pilot bearing. The tranny was rebulit about 6 months ago. It ran great no noises or anything i have put about 600 miles on it since the clutch change. About 60 miles ago i started getting this high pitch whine/sceraching i thought it was a brake low pad sensor due to the fact that it would and when I hit the brake but it was coming from the tranny area so tonight to make sure I put it in the air and started checking over everything it is diffently coming from under the car. So I checked everything out made sure it was full on fluid and it was made sure the rear end was full and it is checked all bolts and they are all tight. It makes no diffrence if your in gear or not or if you have the clutch pedel in. I can shut the car off and let it roll down hill and it still makes the nosie. It sounds like a door on a old house opening but just constant does not change with speed. I did notice today when i hit a bump it stoped for a about a block. Any direction on were to look next?

make sure your brake lines arent touching the tires and parking brake cables not touching the driveshaft

its sounds like the pilot bearing, if its a high pitched skweek that would be my first guess. Did you grease everything up when you put it back in? Sometimes the little bearing on the Pilot Bearing get dry if you dont oil them up good. I had that problem not to long ago.

I greased everything really good. I used a ford racing bearing. Would the piolot bearing still be moving with the car in netural engine off just rolling? Would I hurt anything if I jacked it up and pulled the drive shaft off and let it idle in first to see if it still makes the nosie to determine if it is something in the tranny or not? Not sure if this is a good idea or not.

So I think it is fixed. I jacked it up and ran it just idling 15 mph is what the speedo said. It was differently coming from the tail shaft off the transmission. So I pulled the drive shaft ran it did not hear it. So I put some wheel bearing grease on the yoak of the drive shaft when i pushed it into the rubber it looked like most the grease came off but drove it around for 15 minutes and did not hear the noise and before it was instant it might stop for a second if you hit the brakes but it would start back up. I did not drive it on the highway but drove it around town and got up to 40 so I'm hoping it stays gone.

Just went out and drove it again and it still seems to be gone. Figure's crossed.
