Upgrades for my Cobra

Hi guys, My 1998 SVT cobra is pretty much stock it has a K&N Air filter not CAI but just the air filter. The guy I bought it from put it in. I was wondering what should I put for performance upgrades into this car? Can anybody make a top10 of what i should put into it in order? Whats the 1st upgrade I should put into it, and also will 4.30 gears decrease my gas milage alot and how much do you think it will decrease it by? Are the 4.30's worth it I've heard 4.10's or bust and 4.30's or bust. Please give me a detailed answer

Thanks guys!!

there is a sticky for these questions... basic-mods-your-sn95-cobra

4.10s didnt hurt my GT at all that I noticed...if ur staying N/A go with the 4.30s, just dont drive on the highway.

I've already read that sticky lol just got done reading it again. But I use the highway almost every day for work, and I like to race people and usually its on the highway, so would 4.30's not be good? Are 4.10's still good? Any experience with them?

4:10's are good. As for mods you have your basic things. LT's, Midpipe, Catback, Gears, Tune. 4V motors are more of a top end motor and w/ a full exhaust you'll really feel a huge difference. Especially with a tune.

TOB = Throw Out Bearing BTW
Yeah, a full exhaust, intake, gears, tune will really wake her up as all the above had said

Haha don't worry about that . It was an inside joke thing. You don't need to worry about until it's time to change your clutch.

funk 4.10s, its not steep enough for these motors unless your boosted, i was highly dissapointed when i got them installed, 4.56 or GTFO

4.10's are going to be the low end. I was going to do 4.30's but plan on boosting my motor. Plus I see more highway miles than anything since I go between Atlanta, Tampa, and Ft Gordon a lot.

Everyone else has given good advice. A full out exhaust is really going to wake your motor up, ecspecially with a good tune.

If it were mine I would go,

4.10's
LT's / Midpipe / Catback
Tune
Then I would start work on the suspension.

is that the order you would go in? What about CAI, and shortshifter? Should I just get new gears right away? And mind you I drive on the highway for only 10 mins but i do that 5-6 times a week and I usually am driving on routes like RT 9 I dont live in a city.

Thanks Joe

That is the order that I would go in, but everyone is different. I am not a CAI fan. I have hydrolocked a motor already. It sucks. A shortshifter I would get at anytime.

#1 first thing out of the box is get an aftermarket shifter with positive stops. Do that before ANYTHING else, or you run the risk of blowing your tranny if you shift too aggressively.

Full length subframe connectors would be the next thing I'd suggest.

ok so a MGW Short shifter. or a Steeda, and full lenth subframe connectors. A full exaust would be sick but its pricy..

just to let you know, when you plan on putting the LT's on, you have to drop the whole front kmember/suspension. IT's a PITA. So i suggest getting a tubular front kmember so to swap in when you do the headers. the stock kmember is friggin heavy and total crap to work around. get ceramic coated headers since you drive it alot. regular LT's crack when they get wet, and scrape on the ground. I got a Qa1 front suspension from an ebay store called uprproductsonline and it was like 540 shipped or something like that. it didnt' include new struts, so id plan on gettin a set of those too. I paid my mech for like 9 hours of labor to drop my suspension and put my headers on and then reinstall all of it, that is before i decided to go turbo.
