I've seen some bassani headers around, they seem like a pretty good price. Does anyone know the pro's and con's of the bassani headers?

there are places that do it. be sure you get a reputable place to do it, not just some hack job that is done by someone that thinks they know what they are doing.

Sean Hyland Motorsports will port your cobra intake and shorten the runners for 700-sumthing. I've heard as much as 50hp gain if you have forced induction. You'll lose alot of torque down low, but the gain up high is sposes to be worth it. also Hamilton Clarke makes a super high flowing intake, but it has the same pros/cons as a SHM intake setup. Modular mustang racing can port your intake for about 500, and i dont think it is as extreme as the others i mentioned.

I got mine through dagostinoracing.com As far as your setup in particular, I don't know the cost. Mine with a midpipe ran me somewhere around $1300

They aren't cheap, but they have good customer service and won't dick you around.

Thanks for the website! I was getting tired of going to americanmuscle all the time.
The BBK, and the Mac headers are about what im looking to spend at the moment. Which would you suggest? I'm not looking for something thats going to make my car obnoctiously loud. I'm just looking for a nice rumble. Also, it mentioned on the site that the BBK's will add 15-20hp, but doesnt say anything about the Mac's hp gain. Will they Mac's add the same hp as the BBK's?

Im guessing your looking at long tube headers, what coating you looking to go with, everyone told me Ceramic, so thats what I got. It sould be about that same hp, you should get a short X Mid pipe too instead of and H, maybe that was already stated above, idk, im running off 4 hours of sleep and dont feel like reading lol sorry

Yea currently I have Bassani exhuast, with an o/r x-pipe. Would BBK add a good rumble to my car, or make it loud? Those headers are the ones im leaning most towards at the moment.

Would it be a better idea to buy a new throttle body before the headers? This is probably a stupid question, but I was looking at the throttle bodies online and whats with difference in the 65mm, 70mm, and the 75mm? Yes I know thats the size, but is there a differnce in performance or anything?

I was told not to waste the money on a TB, but the stock Mach TB are already good so im told, you'll prob notice alittle in difference in throttle reponse and gain a few hp, maybe someone with a Cobra could anwser that one a little better

i hear that u gain a guarenteed bout 50hp on a termi if u upgrade ur throttle, but that is because they are f.i....other than that they say that mach 1 and other cobra throttle bodies do good

i would do the headers over the throttle body. I bought BBK ceramic longtubes, and it sounded nice. I had an o/r h pipe with the stock manifolds, and it was loud in the car. when i switched to longtubes and an o/r x-pipe, it was quieter in the car. Honestly i was disappointed until i let someone else drive my cobra while i stood in my driveway and heard it drive by. it was way louder and had a sweet rumble. it was just quieter in the cabin. the h-pipes drone more in the cabin and are supposibly made to produce torque down low, and the x-pipe makes a higher pitch sound and designed to make more HP up higher in rpm's.

Could you feel a big difference in power when you added the LT's?

If your x pipe is for a stock set up you will have to replace that too if you get long tube headers.

I have ford racing ceramic coated (by jet hot) short tube headers, bassani catted x pipe, and pypes cat back on my 4v stang. It has a good sound to it, and its not too loud at idle or at cruzing speeds, but sounds awsome when you punch it. If you go to pypes web page you can listen to sound files of there exhaust. Pypes Performance Exhaust - Home Page

On my 88tbird with 5.0 i have mac shorties, bbk hpipe w/o cats, and 2 chamber flows with turndowns (no tail pipes) and it is loud. 55mph for more then like 15 mins, youll feel like your head is going to exsplode.

If you like the way your exhaust sounds now, then changing the headers problay wont make too much of a difference.

I would check Summit Racing – High Performance Car and Truck Parts l 800-230-3030 if you havent already. You can also find some good deals on new headers at ebay if you havent checked there yet. I picked up my mustang 4v headers from a dealer on ebay brand new for about $175 shipped

yea i had a noticable difference in power at higher rpm's. I lost a little torque down low, but midrange and up high it was great.
