basic mods + 4v hp?
Well, if I cant get my car running by the end of the day tomorrow ill be looking into buying a new motor, figured might as well make it a 4v. I was curious what kind of power an 01 cobra motor would put out with the basic cai, tb, o/r x, pulleys, etc? im just getting all anxious about having a 4v and on paper, stock for stock they are much better than 2vs, how much more am I really getting though? what are typical must have mods beyond the basic intake/exhaust?

i had 312rwhp with bolt ons, and that was un-tuned. Ask 32VGT, he did the swap.

You should go with a 99 Cobra motor since they are all teksid blocks whereas only a few 01's were (unless you know for a fact that the specific 01 motor you're getting is also teksid)

Don't get the 99 motor if it doesn't have the fix.

Well my dreams are now crushed... Ill fix my car monday, it seems to only be a fuel problem. I was kind of looking forward to having a 4v, and getting 300+na, now ill have to live with 10lbs on a 2v. Well thanks anyway, though I am a little bummed that I wont be seeing 7k rpms soon...

Even if the 4v doesnt make much more power peak, remember it makes much more power over time.
Just a hardly measured attribute that does influence performance and gives the 4v motor an edge over a similar power 2v. Theres been quite a few cars that make more power than me but only for short amounts of time before shifting where they fall back behind as I keep pulling even if not as hard. Good luck with your issues though. Either way 10lbs will be a fun car
