What cams are you using? I assume mark8 cams if you are using the whole top end. Mark8 cams with a stock runner length 97 cobra intake will put your peak at or below 6k. If you can find some 96-98 intake cams. These are the most agressive factory intake cams. Then your peak would be around 6200. Shorten the runners on the intake and it'd be around 6400.

Hey Mark - wouldn't a stock '96-98 cobra intake with stock '96-'98 Cobra cams make peak power about the same place as a stock '96-98 Cobra, i.e. ~5800 rpm? What's pushing the peak power up the rev range?

Before my shortrunner intake my car peaked at 6200. This is a full bolt-on car. So maybe a completely stock intake/exhausted car would peak lower but typically from the dyno's I've see it was between 6000-6200. By shortening my runners I raised peak to 6400.

Boostang- To shorten the runners you have to remove the runners and lop between 1-2" off the ends and epoxy them back in. Gains are between 12-20rwhp. It can be done for relatively cheap. Just all depends if you're mechanically inclinded.

SHM will port a cobra intake for 700bucks, and it will guarantee to see a 50hp gain, buuut you kinda need boost for that kinda flow.
