You should really go to your local book store and pick up "How To Build MAX-PERFORMANCE 4.6-LITER FORD ENGINES" By Sean Hyland. It pretty much covers everything you need to know about building 4.6 and 5.4Ls. In the book he covers everything; all the different blocks, all the heads and there differences (including actual flow numbers) what pistons to use, ect... I would also take a look at the jan. 2010 issue of Muscle mustangs and fast fords. There is a good artical about vortechs new si-trim blower. Basically they installed one on a 96 cobra with little to no modifications (stock heads, cams, springs, lash adjusters, intake manifold) other then a built bottom end and made 615wrhp and 550lb-fts of torque at 19psi of boost. The tune was done by Rick Anderson, and get this, no inter or aftercooler! Deff. worth a read!

Ya I am ordering that book soon. as well as his rebuild book.

And there are people that make 1000rwhp on stock shit but when they are done on the dyno they lower the boost or build the engine. I could probably make a 500rwhp run on my 7 cylinder bone stock windsor but it sure wouldn't last long.

Thanks for the info tho I would like to check the article out.

Ya I've heard a few negatives to it. one big one is there is no index.

But it is geared more towards our types.

There is way more info in that book about building a 4.6l then you will find on this forum. Trust me. Once you get the book, read it and then ask more questions to fill in the blanks. I would also recommend finding a good machinest, usually its not the first time for them

Ya I would imagine that maybe when it first came out it was better but with so many new developments in the mod motor world I'm sure its on its way to being outdated.

You my want to look into Sean Hylands work with the 4.6L. He has done plenty of race proven combos that make or break performance. Im looking to get his book myself to help with my teskid build and swap.

The 96-98 Cobra intake cams have the most duration out of all the OEM cams.

All 4v mustangs, mark8, marauder, and aviator have basically the same exact exhaust cams. If there is ANY difference in spac at all, it is insignificant to making power.

The factory 96-98 Cobra cams have more duration and outperform the GT supercar cams.

Definately post it up when you do it. Ive been trying to research as much as I can on the subject. So far what Ive gathered is that the 96-98s should be better even in a boosted app. But I dont have any solid info in either direction.

I really had no itention on doing cams on my 2.8H set up, due to seeing less then stellar results from others cam swaps after spending over 1k.

If I can see a 10-15HP improvement (or any improvement) with a set of $50-100 intake cams, I'll be happy.

will do. its nice my buddy found this cobra. its bone stock, never been molested. we going to do a baseline on it before we do anything at all to it. plan on a lot of dyno time on it as well. he wants to knock out all supporting mods before we put power to it, so we been busy laying out plans and steps.
