This is another reason why I ask so many questions. I'd like to know as much as I can about these cars. Thanks again, Dex.

Like Ryan said tires on the 17's will be much cheaper. 1/2 the price in some cases vs. an 18. I know you said that you dont want your speedo to be off if you jump to 18's. You wont have to worry about that as long as you get a shorter sidewall. 275/45/17 will be similar rolling diameter as a 265 or 275/35/18 so you wont have to worry about your speedo. It's all about what you want and if you can afford those wants.

forcefedcobra, thanks for the advice. I think I came to the conclusion. I plan on getting the 17x9" fr500 on all four tires. My car will be a daily driver and switching to 18's but getting a shorter sidewall will actuallt decrease my handling so I'm trying to get the best handling performance/potentional for a daily driver. So switiching yes to the 17x9's would increase my handling since I'm going to a wider tire but still keep the stock sidewall.

At least this is what I plan on doing...

a shorter and consequently stiffer sidewall will handle better in the twisties versus a tall sidewall actually. However if it is your daily 17's will be much cheaper and if you go 17x9 on all 4 corners you will be able to rotate and get more life out of them. I have 18x9 and 18x10.5's so I cant rotate but my front tires have lasted forever and I dont mind getting new rear tires every 12 to 18 months especially since I normally run a DR on the back with over 600 rwhp.

I as well am deciding still on which rims to get. My brother is giving me 3 275/40/17's so i was going with 4 17 x 9 antrhacite Fr500's all around

I was going to use my 1' wheel spacers out back but am now debating on wheter or not to sell those and get 17 X 10.5 and buy 2 315's out back.

Either way, id stick with 17's if i was you. Its not going to be a huge difference with handling honestly. I am in college so money is an issue!

Yeah, that's the bummer I've been thinking about with all the talk of wanting to rotate. You can't run a drag radial if that's the case. That would kind of suck, because I honestly feel that a good, sticky tire is one of the best performing mod for the money even though they don't add a bit of horsepower.

yep and that is why I am going back to a drag radial again. Cant be letting you get the jump on me waiting to get enough traction to give you the 3rd gear fly-by anymore. LOL! It's like Dewayne's car. What good is a 900 rwhp turbo mustang that only runs 12's? I look at rear tires like fuel, oil, brake pads, etc. It's just something that needs changed. If I didnt want to deal with that then I would have a normal car with 60k mile tires that couldnt get out of it's own way.

did you get my text about the bowl bash?

Hey guys i ended up buying some rims, I need to get some tires though. I want to get some all-season tires since my car is a daily driver. I found some for $115 in 255/45/17 and 255/40/17. My question is this. I just bought 9" wheels should I stick with my stock 245/45/17 size or go with a 255/45/17 or a 255/40/17? What are the advantages? I'm looking for traction, longer tread lifem and better cornering to make this car more fun to drive.

Thinking about these tires. Kumho Ecsta ASX

Thanks again, fellas.

I like the ASXs, I ran a set of them for about 20k. I'd go with 'em again if I needed a cheap allseason.

How long do you think those will last for?

Mine gave me really good dry traction for about 15k miles, and the wet traction was still good when I took them off at around 20k. I still have the tires, they're just not mounted on anything, and they're not yet on the wear bars. If I get into drifting, I'm gonna put 'em on my 17x9s and burn the rest off.

18inch tires are pricey, luckily i got a good deal on some 295 toyo t1r, so if you wana not spend so much go with 17s you can get tires for cheap compared to tha 18s
